About a month ago we were thoroughly impressed by Sono location and service, and decided to bring our family (of which are well traveled in Nepal and buddhist) tonight to another location.
Having seen that the restaurant closes at 9:15 pm, we assumed we would have enough to arrive at 8:20, order and enjoy our meal until at least an hour or more (like any other restaurant or dining location in the world).
I have never in my life been SO rushed to get out of the restaurant from the moment we walked through the door. If 8:20 was passed the cut off, it is much better to decline the table than to treat guests with such haste.
We ordered as soon as possible without even having time to explore the long menu and got our food pretty fast. As the person faced towards the bar, i noticed the entire staff watching us like hawks, especially as our family took their time to pray.
Within 20 minutes, wait staff was asking what plates we were done with… all of us were still enjoying our dishes. By the time the first plates were cleared (around 8:55), the lights were turning off around us, the check was on the table, the candle was rudely taken off, and the staff was approaching our table WITH THEIR JACKETS ON.
By 9:10, literally 4-5 waitstaff were STARING at us from across the room.
I’m sorry but it is common hospitality to wait for your last guests to enjoy their meal that you welcomed in.
I was a waitress, I know the struggle. But you also recognize that you are being paid for your service.
It’s sad because the food is AMAZING, 11/10. But the service was worse than a McDonald’s closing at 4AM.
