Lovely spot in a shopping mall (parking available). Staff is attentive, and we were seated almost immediately. They even have some outdoor seating. High-backed booths offer privacy without feeling like you’re boxed in. Well lit and comfortable.
Whole page of vegetarian (and vegan) options available. Varied appetizers, biryani, meals for two, and even an ayurvedic meal option. Beer, wine, soda. Everything you’d expect, plus a few less common options.
The food was fresh, very flavorful, and decent portion size (don’t be fooled by the decorative bowls they serve in – there is more than it looks like).
Found this recommended by locals in a Reddit thread (some responses from several years ago) – and it’s obvious why this restaurant is still around.

Sunny and his team are incredible. The food is delicious, they always greet us with a warm complimentary soup and dessert at the end, the service is the best I’ve ever had, and atmosphere are all 5 stars, they even have a small retail section with great gifts. A gem in Ventura!

Wow, just wow! As a Miami Florida native, I wasn’t expecting to find a gem like Himalaya Restaurant in Ventura, California. But boy, was I blown away! The moment I stepped in, I knew I was in for a treat. The quality of the food was exceptional, and the flavors were a perfect blend of Asian and Indian cuisine. As someone who normally sticks to traditional Asian and Indian restaurants, I was hesitant to try something new, but Himalaya exceeded my expectations. The dishes I tried were not only delicious but also expertly crafted, with a great balance of spices and textures. I’m so glad I discovered this hidden gem, and I’ll definitely be back for more in the future when I come back to California. Highly recommend to anyone looking to spice up their dining experience!

Wonderful food and great experience. I always leave there being satisfied! The veggie samosa is the perfect appetizer to start. I had the vegetable korma and my mom had the jackfruit curry as our entrees. Both dishes were so delicious, full of an inviting aroma to excite and satiate a ravenous palate. Before we left, they gave us a nice rice pudding treat. It was so delicious and full of flavor. I recommend this place. You won’t be disappointed

To me this place did not feel like a restaurant rather a place of rest where my vessel can come heal and rejuvenate. I had been studying various concepts of scientific studies on consciousness and spirituality the night prior, my soul was hungry to dive deeper, somehow I needed to use the restroom this late morning while driving, also felt I needed to find something healthy to energize my body, low and behold I happen to see this restaurant. It pulled me in. Upon arrival I felt the rest, had the most amazing Aryuvedic meal with chai. Sunni served me. Come to find out he had served previously in Singapore to some of the highest officials in the region. What an honor but mostly his spirit. A man who meditates day and night with a humility you can feel. I love this place and everything about it. Enjoy ❤️

We got the wedding meal that comes with so much food at a reasonable price. It was perfect for two and I highly recommend it.
The food was simply outstanding. I don’t think you can order anything here and be disappointed.

We hired Himalaya Cuisine for our most recent Indian wedding and wow, the food was absolutely incredible! The flavors were rich, authentic, and a perfect blend of spice and comfort. From traditional curries and naan to vegetarian options that even our non-Indian friends raved about! Everything was prepared and served with care, and there was plenty for seconds (and thirds)!
The staff that set up were friendly and professional, attentive to our guests’ needs, and made the catering flow smoothly throughout the reception. The menu felt thoughtfully curated and inclusive of different tastes and dietary preferences.

My girlfriend and I spontaneously visited this restaurant tonight and were completely blown away by the exceptional experience. The service was outstanding, attentive, kind, and welcoming. As first-time guests, we were delighted with a complimentary lentil soup, 10/10, which warmed us perfectly on a chilly evening.
We started with handmade samosas, the most authentic and delicious we’ve ever had, truly perfect. For our main course, we enjoyed butter chicken and paneer with garlic naan. The portions were generously large, and both dishes were phenomenal, with no flaws to note. For dessert, the rice pudding was simply divine.
The atmosphere was relaxing, enhanced by a charming ticker board displaying cute quotes. We regret not taking photos but will definitely return to capture the experience next time. The staff provided convenient take-home boxes, and we’re excited to enjoy the leftovers for lunch tomorrow. This place is a gem, and we can’t wait to come back!

My favorite take-out place in all of Ventura. Always consistent, always delicious. I always see it busy inside but have never sat down. I am sure the wait service is as phenomenal as the food, the staff and owners are very welcoming and friendly. I have been consistently satisfied by Himalaya for 2+ years now! Tonight was my first time here. Lots of available seating inside and outside. Promptly greeted by a friendly staff and seated. Immediately brought out some water and menus. Overall for my first time here i enjoyed myself and plan to return to try other menu items. Some of the Prices to me seem a bit high for the portions of food received on certain Items. Tonight I got the butter chicken in medium heat. It could of used some more flavor and it wasn’t hot at all. I definitely did fill up thankfully to the seemingly bottomless white rice that is served along with your food. The stuffed naan bread was great. The samosas were very large and seem to be a favorite for most everyone. The food here seems to favor the region of Nepal. So if that interest you and you’re ready to spend a bit more for the authentic restaurant vibes then this is a must stop for you. As I said before I look forward to returning and trying more items on the menu.
