The warmth and care you showed made the experience even more special. Looking forward to visiting again someday with family.
There was also constant pressure to order more food, which made the experience uncomfortable. When my friend and I asked to pay separately, the owner became irritated and rude.
To add, the restroom smelled nasty.
As for the food, the biryani was average at best. Overall, the service and cleanliness issues overshadowed the meal. I will not be returning and do not recommend this place.
From start to finish, the owner’s behavior overshadowed everything else. He was rude, unprofessional, and came across as excessively greedy. The food itself didn’t help either, was pretty subpar.
What made the experience uncomfortable was the constant pressure to order more food. Even after we clearly said we were done, he kept insisting we add more items, repeatedly saying we wouldn’t be full. When we declined, he actually berated us for ordering “too little.” This kind of pushy upselling felt aggressive and completely inappropriate for a restaurant setting.
It didn’t stop there. He asked if we wanted dessert, we politely said no, yet he sent one to the table anyway- without our consent. When it was time to pay, he made the now-infamous “cash discount” comment that many others have mentioned in reviews. We said we didn’t have cash. Then we noticed a 15% gratuity added to the bill. When I asked if gratuity was usually charged only for larger parties, he bluntly replied that they charge it even for two people and said, “We have our own rules.”
I didn’t argue or react negatively- just said okay, thanks and left. As I was leaving, he made a nasty remark, saying he had sent the dessert “for free” and yet I was still asking questions about the bill. That comment sealed it for me. Sending something on the house after a customer repeatedly declined it, and then using it as leverage to justify shady billing practices, is extremely manipulative and greedy.
Overall, the experience felt uncomfortable and dishonest. I won’t be returning, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
The food was below average, soggy biryani, bland tawa gosht, and definitely not worth the high prices. He kept pushing us to order more, even when we said we were done, which felt greedy.
To top it off, he offered a discount only if we paid in cash possibly to avoid taxes. Very shady. Not going back and wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
Looking forward to our next Houston trip – Himalaya round two is a must.
