Where East meets West: We are the first shaved ice store (that we know of) to offer traditional Japan block shaved ice and the fastest, best made U.S.A. shaved ice cube snow with self-serve flavor station. “Hilo Kine Ice Shave” is our local traditional hand shaped and flavored treat with powder-like ice flakes made from ice blocks. “Hilo Wiki Wiki Ice Shave” is the fast, fun and our family-friendly priced offering. Made from ice cubes that are finely shaved (not crushed). It’s literally a blast for us to make and you to self-flavor(s). Shave ice in Hawai’i has its roots in Hawai’i’s plantation years when in the 1800s Japanese immigrants came to work and introduced “kakigori” (shaved ice). On the Big Island it is called ice shave!

The staff is also really awesome, they saw us eating outside the shop on the bench and one of the employees came out with a couple fist size snowballs and let my daughter throw them into the parking lot and pretend to be Elsa from Frozen with ice powers. Totally made her day!
