A big thank you to Hillview Cafe! Our track & field team from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA was competing at Illinois College in Jacksonville, IL on a Friday evening this past April. The track meet was scheduled to go late into the evening and most food options would be closed by the time we were done. We reached out to see if Hillview Cafe would cater our team meal. The owner, Eddie Lawson, worked with our budget and personally delivered the food for nearly 50 people all the way up to Jacksonville, and brought us fried chicken, barbecued pulled pork, buns, mashed potatoes, corn, carrots, and everything we needed to eat (plates, utensils, napkins, etc). Our team went crazy over how good the food was. We had many positive comments from team members about the quality of the food, with several saying how much they enjoyed it because it reminded them of their grandmother’s home cooking back home. It certainly beat the college dining hall and fast-food that they’re used to, and was a great treat at the end of a long day!
If you’re looking for down home, country kitchen, homemade-style food, I highly recommend Hillview Cafe. Great food and great personal service. Thank you again!

What a great place. Outstanding fish, burgers, specials etc. if you’re in the area it’s a must stop. It’s the way small town restaurants used to be, a real dying breed.

The food has been good every time. Nothing special just your normal greasy spoon fare. Walk through the doors to the other side and grab a cold one as well.
