NOW THIS IS AN ESTABLISHMENT!! Probably my favorite restaurant in Iowa City. I never ordered anything that wasn’t good. Highly recommend their breaded tenderloin sandwich. Their tater tots are to die for too. Great place to take a buddy for a beer! The staff was always friendly and prices very reasonable. Go there!

Normally, I’m not a bar food person; but this place is an exception to the rule; rotating home made specials during the week, great sandwiches, wide selection of drinks, nice employees, and an interesting looking historical looking building, especially on the inside. I spilled a beer on the bar tenders leg and she didn’t even care! Such kind folk and amazing pool tables and pool sticks. Very good pool sticks!

pool.
Dinner options are common ones. We had a chicken wings appetizer; my wife had garlic bread soup and fish-and-chips, and I had a dinner salad and a fried pork loin sandwich.
The wings, salad, and pork loin were all good. My wife liked the soup and fish, and she didn’t care for the fries.
The service is handled by the bar team, which can easily survey the dining area.
The place is clean, and during the several times we were there, the patrons have never been partticularly rowdy. The sense of being old is authentic. There are a few old signs that are there because the place has been around a long time.

Hilltop is a local dive and neighborhood bar with a great menu. 3 pool tables in the back, several TV’s with Iowa games featured. Great selection of canned and bottled beverages. They recently expanded their NA selection. This is a great spot for conversationalists, lunch specials, and the rural, urban crowd this spot draws in. Open Tuesday through Saturday
