We have been dining here for years and consider the Hilltop to be one of the best restaurants in North Bend/Coos Bay. Our group had steak, scallops, chicken alfredo, stuffed mushrooms, clam chowder, and a few appetizers. Drinks were great and the food was good. Wish you could pick the seafood in the surf-n-turf. The customer service was outstanding! Make sure to be there before sunset for amazing views. Definitely be back!

Our server Kayla had the best personalty she was on top of everything, got all of our food in timely matter great taste cooked to perfection nothing to complain about at all. Yes it’s pricey, but if you want great food and friendly waitress staff that knows how to do her job THIS IS THE PLACE. I will most definitely go there again great treat for yourself or loved ones. Forgot to take pics of appetizers, but they were amazing we had the smoked salmon and crab dip yum.

We had my birthday dinner at The Hilltop last night and it was quite possibly the best food and dinner I have had in the past two years. EVERYTHING was excellent. The service was friendly and wonderful. Salad, clam chowder, shrimp cocktail and bread were excellent.
I had the sea scallops; excellent! My daughter had the oysters; excellent!
I was given a free chocolate mousse (gigantic with whipped cream) for my birthday as well. Both my daughter and I could hardly finish it.
I knew as soon as we pulled up and there were many many cars, that it would be a great dining experience. People go to places that are good.
Bravo to the Chef(s) for our food. Beyond 5 stars.

I was so excited to eat here. The fish taste amazing. Unfortunately the lunch cook looked like he was tweeking and cooked a black piece of plastic into my fish. The clam chowder looked more like dirty dish water and taste the same. It was not what you would expect from a restaurant on the beach and as expensive as it was.

Older restaurant, kind of small, 70’s decor. They could remodel, but it would lose its charm.
Our group of 8 ordered a variety of entrees, and not a single person had a complaint!
The London Broil was the evening special the night I was there, so I ordered it. It was cooked to perfection, and had great flavor.
As good as my meal was, I may have made a mistake not ordering the rib-eye? Two people at our table ordered rib-eyes, and they looked really super good! I will try one next time!!!
The mashed potatoes tasted great, with a nice presentation. The gravy drizzle had a very good taste that was on the meat and potatoes. The mixed vegetables were cooked just right, and not mushy.
The bread had an outstanding look and presentation, but didn’t have the full flavor I expected, based on the look. The bread truly looks like a masterpiece, and is covered with seasonings. Everyone devoured the bread immediately.
I will definitely return to dine here, and would recommend it to anyone in the area.
Update 8/21/25:
A group of four returned last night. We ordered two rib-eyes, a NY steak, and the Halibut. We even had the crab dip appetizer.
Our respective meals were cooked to perfection, and the bread was perfect as well.
We HIGHLY recommend the raspberry dressing for the salads, as it is quite good!
Will return again on the next trip!

Birthday dinner outstanding. Not trendy..more like an elegant meal from a bygone age done to perfection. Stuffed mushrooms with crab topped with real hollandaisr for an appetizer. Followed by a salad with accompanying pickled vegetables, house made..I had seared scallops perfectly done..others had halibut almondine. And crab and artichokes dip. Desserts were a perfect Creme Brulee with a thin crisp glass like caramel that cracked delicately and tasted like heaven along with a sumptuous chocolate mousse for the birthday girl. The SERVICE WAS again perfect and attentive. Absolutely old school fine FINE dining..Chef Jesse outdid himself..as did our server. Thanks all for a wonderful 75th birthday. WOW

My Mom took my for a birthday surprise. First time we have been there. Walking up to the restaurant I wasn’t sure what to expect. Its hidden in trees with campground vibes. Inside atmosphere wasn’t much better. Floor was crooked so I had to sit slanted. Severely chipped serving bowls. I was incredibly surprised at how amazing the food tasted! I had steak and a huge lobster tail. Lobster was amazing but the steak was tough. Very high prices! I wouldn’t return due to the atmosphere and high prices. They really need to do some repairs and buy new dishes with the prices they charge. This is a good one time experience. Be sure to make a reservation.

My wife and I were visiting town and got to enjoy this great restaurant. The view and location are excellent. The food was great but my first and second choices were all sold out. Super popular place. I didn’t give 5 stars on food for that reason. Also I didn’t give 5 stars on atmosphere because the places could use some updates to truly be worthy of a 5 star experience. They also have a lounge which is nice. WE WILL BE BACK:)

Maggie my Waitress Is phenomenal the Oysters Rockefeller through the roof!!!! The presentation is magnificent,the flavors out of the local oysters here were by far none the best. Cannot wait to take my friends and family here, when they get back this week for vacation. Plus the ribeye is unbelly so tender and so tasty. I’m very happy to have Maggie here too help me with the perfect decision on here with a good dinner. Her service is the best ever. Definitely telling all my work friends and family about this place to come To the Hilltop House restraunt. The view is amazing here on hill overlooking the bay. Can’t wait to come back here with my family!!!!!

I was told that this place was pricey but good and they were right on both accounts. I had the Ribeye steak with mixed vegetables, pasta, and a salad. The steak was cooked perfectly and a good charred flavor. The service was good and prompt. Pricey but not overpriced.
I came in tonight November 17th and had the Salmon special with a honey and ginger glaze, mashed potatoes, vegetable medley, salad, French bread, and the broiled stuffed mushrooms appetizer. The meal was good and the staff was awesome as usual. The salmon may have been a little under but still good. I recommend for any occasion but remember to make reservations because they are quite busy.
