Hillside Spot is such a cozy place for a family gathering or a date night. They offer a wide variety of options, including vegetarian dishes, breakfast favorites like huevos rancheros, and more traditional entrées. I love that they serve breakfast all day!
The sandwiches are delicious, and there are so many unique salad choices. (I included a photo of the turkey pressed sandwich with fig spread — it’s amazing!) They also have several fresh, homemade burger options, plus a great selection of beer and wine.
This little gem has been around for years, and it shows. The staff is always friendly and attentive — they truly care about your experience. Highly recommend!

A slightly fancy brunch/cafe with some more upscale food options. You generally get less food for your buck than with some of the more budget places (one of our crew ordered two meals), but it does seem fresher and healthier than your average cheap bacon and eggs breakfast. We just finished a marathon here and were pretty hungry.

Service was great, and we didn’t have to wait to get in.

Can’t believe we’d never been here before. A nice breakfast lunch spot. It’s way bigger on the inside than it appears to be from the outside. We didn’t have to wait very long for a table of 4, maybe 5 minutes tops. I got the Cuban because I wanted hot and tangy and buy did it deliver. It was a pressed sandwich and it tasted like something I’d make at home, I was very impressed. The fries were good and we could order them unseasoned for our son. Our son got the adult sized grilled cheese which we loved but he did not enjoy the cheese because of course it wasn’t just standard American cheese but he ate enough to fill up. Can’t wait to go back, now I just need to decide if I’ll try something else because how can I skip the Cuban Pressed Sandwich now knowing how good it is???

Really liked this place for its atmosphere, indoor and outdoor seating, good service, food was good but we paid a bit more for what we like compared to other places so we probably won’t return. Husband and I wanted pancakes with a traditional eggs/hash browns/sausage or bacon combo but they don’t offer that. We got the pancakes and then were charged separately for eggs, hash browns and sausage. I mean, it was good but I paid $5 for a sausage link. Kind of disappointing. Glad we tried it, but we won’t pay that again.

I don’t get what the hype is about. Very relaxed atmosphere and neighborhood spot, I get it , but food was meh/nothing special and latte was meh and everything was just meh Not paying $14 for that omelette again (on a plastic plate) which was only thing I thought was interesting enough to try…and my husbands lox was pretty tiny for also $14. Meh.

The wait was worth it if you want to eat food with real and fresh ingredients, not from Sysco of US Foods

For those times you need a quick, delicious meal in Arizona without resorting to fast-food chains, The Hillside Spot is a must-visit. This hidden restaurant is a true gem, offering incredible food that’s ready fast. I was able to grab a to-go order that was miles better than any fast-food alternative, with fresh, flavorful ingredients that made for a truly satisfying meal. The Hillside Spot proves that you don’t have to sacrifice quality for convenience, making it the perfect spot for anyone who wants a great meal on the go.

I have never had so much grease on an omelet before. The thing I can compare it to is the amount of grease on like a really cheap pizza. The person that I was with also ate her salad and then I noticed a hair in her salad. The hair obviously was not hers because it was a very dark hair. The portion sizes are very small for the price that you are paying. The server did not ask if we wanted a separate check which I found odd. Usually, you can look at a group of people and think it may be nice to at least ask if they would like a separate check. Asked for additional napkins and it took a good ten minutes to get them. I would highly NOT recommend this place.

I love the option of breakfast or lunch. Some lunch spots close by 2 or 2:30; Hillside is a great mid-afternoon, late lunch choice. It’s a little loud inside, we could still talk comfortably. I also like patronizing local, non-franchise restaurants. I will definitely be back!

Went there for the first time today. Ordered chicken sandwich with fries and nacho salad. The food was delish but nothing out of the ordinary. Clean and nice atmosphere and the staff were pleasant. Would recommend.

Update: went today and the service was one of the worst. Ordered simple breakfast sandwich with added chicken and hash brown for which they charge you $2 extra. Sandwich arrived with no chicken at first and then had to ask three times for the hash browns that arrived finally after 30 minutes and it seemed it was cooked with bacon. If you are vegetarian then beware. The server girl was not sure which table the order belonged to either. So I took away two stars and the bill also had extra charge. We may not frequent this place as much as we thought we would. Also it took 20 minutes for espresso and mocha to be made and again they forgot whipped cream on mocha. Interesting! We were a bit disappointed cause we were at the restaurant more than an hour and a half.

Update: I added 2 more stars as their services have improved significantly. I have some other dishes and they are definite tastier. Would recommend.
