I hadn’t been to Hillmans bakery in quite some time. It is still the place to go in and around Fairfield. They have a wonderful variety of desserts and home-made breads and rolls/biscuits. Every time I’m in Fairfield, I make sure to stop at Hillman’s Bakery and it’s all about the blueberry Bismarks for me. They’re hands-down the best I’ve ever had. They are light, fluffy, and filled with the perfect balance of sweet and tart blueberry goodness.

Anyone that knows me knows I am a HUGE Hillman’s fan, have been for years! However the last time I was there I purchased $48 worth of donuts and pastries for our volunteer fire department and 75% of them were horrible. I called several times before getting someone on the phone, she advised me to email them with the photos I took. I emailed them a week ago and I’ve heard NOTHING which is so disappointing!! We pulled off the highway to pick up some snacks on our way home early one Saturday morning. We got there about 8am and walked in, there was already a line with half a dozen folks waiting. That gave us 5 or 10 minutes to look over all the goodies in the glass cabinets, and oh boy was that a tough choice, they make everything you could imagine. We ended up picking a couple whoopie pies and a triple chocolate donut. All fresh, all yummy, and a fantastic value for the price! The blueberry whoopie pie was phenomenal. Friendly folks and very skilled at their craft. We’ll definitely be back again to stock up!
