Unsanitary Food and Disrespectful Staff – Avoid This Place

I ordered food here and found rice weevils in the rice. When I brought it to the attention of the manager and asked for a refund, I was rudely denied. I then politely asked if I could get a replacement meal instead, and was denied again.

What shocked me even more was the disgusting look the woman gave me — as if I didn’t know what rice was. She even asked if I was Asian, saying I “should know what rice looks like.” Not only was that completely inappropriate and racist, but I’m *not even Asian*. And just to clarify: you don’t need to be Asian to recognize what clean rice is, or to know the difference between food and bugs.

This behavior is highly unprofessional and unacceptable — especially in front of my child. It’s basic food safety to know that insects like rice weevils are not meant to be served, yet the staff treated it like it was normal. If they are okay eating bugs in their food, I’m not.

The way I was treated — with rudeness, ignorance, and disrespect — is shameful. As paying customers, we deserve clean food and respectful service, not condescending attitudes and possible health risks.

I will never return, and I strongly encourage others to inspect your food carefully if you do decide to eat here. I hope this helps others stay alert. No one deserves to be treated this way.

Our first visit was a pleasant experience. When we walked in for lunch, we were immediately greeted and were able to choose the seats we wanted. The tables were clean and the atmosphere was nice. It’s a very old building, so expect some old building smell, but it wasn’t so bad that I wouldn’t come back. We ordered spring rolls for an appetizer. They were delicious! Then, for lunch, we both ordered the chicken and rice plate. The portion was huge! I ate maybe a fourth of it before I had to box it to go. That said, I thought the price of the lunch was on point because of the large portion and small salad that came with it. The server asked us if we wanted heat or no heat for each meal. I chose no heat. My chicken and rice had a lovely taste, somewhat buttery and savory undertones with lots of eggs and veggies. I would order it again. My boyfriend ordered his the hottest and would have liked it hotter, but he enjoyed it. Overall, it was a nice visit. The only recommendation would be to maybe get dehumidifiers to keep all the metal from oxidizing on the bathroom fixtures and wherever else in the building.

Recently tried Hill Monkeys Thai Cuisine and overall, it was a good experience. The food was very good, with decent portions. The Pad Thai was superb, and everything tasted like authentic Thai food, which I really appreciated.

One small hiccup: they gave very little peanuts with the Pad Thai, so I requested more. They brought a generous portion, which impressed me – until I saw the bill and noticed a $2 charge for extra peanut crumbs. That seemed a bit much.

While the food was tasty, it did feel a bit pricier than it should be. I might visit again, but it’s not something I’d go out of my way for. If you’re nearby and craving Thai food, it’s worth a try, but be prepared for some extra charges.

My family and I absolutely loved Hill Monkeys Thai Cuisine. Excellent food and service with very friendly employees. Will definitely be back. Combination Red Curry was best I’ve ever had one spice level down from the top.

The food at Hill Monkeys is great. Every dish we’ve tried has been excellent quality. Soups are a tiiiiny bit salty, balanced out with extra spice. Wait staff is always helpful, friendly, quick, and ready with a smile. Bathrooms are always impeccably clean.

We got there about 35 minutes before they closed. We ordered the calamari for an app, I had the pineapple curry with chicken & hubby had the spicy Thai basil with shrimp & chicken. The calamari was the best I’ve ever had. Hands down. It tasted so fresh and NOT rubbery!!!! NOT rubbery!!!! The pineapple curry was creamy good with medium heat ofset by pineapple chunks. I love hot pineapple. Amazing. The shrimp were big and juicy perfect size serving. The waitstaff were amazing as the food. A must try. We’ll be back. Very cute decor

The waitress was confused on who ordered what… asked for spicy got none?? The portions were more noodles with very little protein.. I ordered chicken basil and got maybe three strips chicken as big round as a chop stick!! Little overpriced for what we all got!!!

The service was stellar. The food tasted wonderful. But there was a horrible smell of dirty rotten dishpan water….I was told it was the work going on upstairs…they are newly open and remodeling the upstairs bar and dining area currently. I just feel like it was a bad time to handle this on a Friday night dinner hours. I will go back again after the remodeling and outside area are being utilized and redo this review once the facilities are fully functioning…I can hardly wait!

This was a fantastic experience all around. The service is top notch, the server was not scared to explain anything and everything Thai to you if necessary. I had several questions and she answered them with an exquisite attitude and with super positive vibes! The salad was a great addotion to my crispy thai basil meal, it was served on a cold plate and with a wonderful ginger sesame dressing. I got medium spice bc spicy is typically a bit of the wrong kind of too spicy for me. When we spoke about our meals to the waitress, she insisted I try thai spice which she brought out and scooped two tiny apoonfuls onto my meal… wow, just wow, the flavor and spice change up was exactly what i was looking for. I can’t wait to back and try the curry as well as a few other recommended items on the menu. The 3/5 instead of 5/5 stars given toward atmosphere is directly related to the odd building smell… oil diffusers would go a long way here… but it won’t stop me from returning.
