Small, cash-only diner (established in 1942) dishing out hearty comfort breakfast & lunch plates.

Cozy, hometown diner serving up traditional homemade breakfast with some small town charm. The local business cards imbedded into tables, cups and mugs, all add to the nostalgia. Old school at its finest. Breakfast was excellent! Crispy hash browns, fluffy eggs, homemade biscuits and gravy and blueberry pancakes were all perfect. The real kicker is the homemade salsa they brought out without even asking. Delicious!

We are Winter Texans and have passed by many times and finally decided to stop and have lunch. First of all, Hill Country Cafe is a quaint Kerrville staple with an abundance of history and charm. And to top that, the owner and all the staff are very personable…they made us feel right at home.
For our lunch order, I had a cup of creamy potato soup with half tuna salad sandwich and side salad and my husband enjoyed a Reuben and fries. The food was delicious and service was outstanding. Thank you to everyone at Hill Country Cafe for an awesome first time experience.
So whether you’re a permanent resident or just passing through, don’t just pass by Hill Country Cafe. Stop and enjoy a meal…you’re welcome.

The coffee was bland and poured in a very small cup. I had to ask for water and it was poured into an even smaller receptacle.
One small gulp and it was empty.
When I questioned our waitress she mentioned the small cup ensured job security and that people waste water and that is why it was served in an eye dropper.
I ordered the huevos rancheros and it was served with a slice of american cheese on top, which was a new one for me. My brother ordered the migas, but they had no tortilla strips in them.
It’s one of those places where you take your bill to the register to check out. The waitress made me feel bad about leaving a 15% tip as my coffee and water were empty constantly so I gave her 20%

Google pulled it as an option for breakfast at 11:25, but breakfast ends at 11. My husband specifically asked for his chicken to not be overdone, and it was totally dry. My chicken fried beef tenders were good, but all in all, just average home style cooking. I hate to do reviews that are not 4-5*, but in this case, I just couldn’t do it.

This is a favorite on our visits to Kerrville… great food, exceptional service, good atmosphere, and great music selection! Had the BLT and the bacon was cooked to perfection, nice and crispy. Let me tell you about the tomatoes…get something with them on/in it…enough said.

Rustic, historic Cafe on the original HEB location. Looks a little bland, but the food and service was very good. We will come back. We had the fish special with homemade banana pudding.

We decided we were going to eat local while in town. We popped into this place for breakfast. We were immediately welcomed. You could tell this place was the place where all the locals went as you saw a bunch of regulars shuffle in. I did not want to over do it, so I ordered one blueberry pancake and some sausage. The blueberries were large and bursting with flavor. They did have sugar free syrup as I do not like to eat that much sugar for breakfast. The sausage was small patties, but had a good flavor. I really enjoyed this little spot. The food and service were top notch.

One of the best breakfasts I have had in a long time. Steak was perfect, eggs were right and finally someone who knows how to make grits. The staff is awesome also.

Great food, great environment, and lovely service! Every employee had a smile on their face and that makes a difference. Even though they were short-staffed, we never had to ask them for anything, they were ON IT. They regularly topped off our coffee, keeping it hot. Also, we didn’t get any, but they had a lemon pie in the fridge with the tallest meringue I had ever seen. It looked like something out of a dream! We got the blueberry pancakes (which were made with fresh blueberries), French toast, and huevos rancheros. Delicious. There were no leftovers!
