Laid-back brewpub features casual American fare & housemade beers on tap, plus an indoor fireplace.

Stopped by Highlands Hollow Brewhouse in Boise for a late lunch and really enjoyed the vibe. The interior has a charming “German” feel with tons of character—loved looking at the old black-and-white ski photos, the wall of vintage beer cans, the framed John Lennon photo, and other photos related to McCall. There’s also a gorgeous painting of an elk that really fits the rustic atmosphere. And they also have a beautiful round fireplace they fire up when it’s cold.
The waiter I had was fantastic! I saw only him handling the whole house on his own, and he was incredibly efficient, courteous, and pleasant throughout. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs; while the pasta and bread were excellent, I found the meatballs themselves a bit over-seasoned for my taste. Also had the soup of the day taster really good! However, the apple and walnut cobbler for dessert was absolutely delicious and the highlight of the meal! Paired it with an unsweetened tea with lemon for a perfect finish. Great spot for a relaxed meal with history on the walls. Definitely will be back.

Spent $38 on the Halibut and Chips to get a bed of fries with MAYBE 4oz of fish. Unbelievably over priced. Ordered on UberEats and the photo shown on the app was 100% false advertisement. NOT happy, i feel like I’ve been scammed and stolen from. I was so excited to try the food and was expecting to become a frequent visitor. Shame on yall!

I love this place. While a true 5 star review usually means out-of-this-world exceptional and Michelin chef quality, I can’t NOT give this place 5 stars because in its class, this restaurant is at the top of the list for me and is a definite “must visit”.
Besides being the oldest brewery in Boise, their food, decor, history and service is hard to beat.
The food is great. They have gluten-free and vegan options. And of course, they have great beer.
We ordered the crab dip appetizer and the clams. Both were great. For lunch, I had the ham and bean soup and a BLT. Yum. My husband had a burger and fries. He got the GF bun (Celiac’s disease) and said it was great. He had no issues or reactions from the fries even tho they are not considered Gluten friendly. But he doesn’t typically react from cross contamination in fryers, etc. I also had the Blonde Ale and husband had a Pepsi. (They serve Pepsi products. This is the only bummer to this place according to my husband who is a Coke guy – but not enough of a bummer to warrant losing a star.)
They are conveniently open 7 days a week and offer live music weekly.
I’ve lived in the Treasure Valley since the 70s, and this place reminds me of the Boise from my childhood. It feels like home when I walk in the door.

First time back in a decade, every bit as good as I remember it being. Incredible atmosphere with a sustainable philosophy to match. The food was top tier, it is still the best burger I have had after several years, we will be coming back more often. Trivia Mondays and live music Wednesdays, cannot recommend them enough. Boise’s oldest brewery and the experience goes to show it.

The food was decent with a huge amount of fries. Burgers were over cooked but still tasted OK. We were the only table in the place. Our server acted as if we were a huge inconvenience for showing up. Was on her phone most of the time sitting close to us. Such an odd experience. The person who actually brought our food to us was very nice. Our server apologized to him for missing it. Once again the only table there.

The steak pasta was delicious.
The wing appetizer was over done and not a good flavor. Their cookies and cream dessert was fresh and great tasting.
They were super busy which was surprising for a Wednesday night.
They have a good size menu and lots of beer tap.
We’ll be back to try more food from there soon.

Unique place to eat. Huge portions and delicious food. The smoke house burger is huge and a local favorite. Fries are cut fresh daily and they pile them high. Steamer clams are delicious. Hot wings have a unique tasty flavor. The fries covered in sausage gravy and cheese curds are amazing.

This place has my absolute favorite fries in Boise. The atmosphere is perfect for after a hike or snow adventure, warm and relaxed. There aren’t many breweries around here that make an ESB and their Thunder Money is an excellent example of one. They have gluten free and vegan options. Love the spicy beef salad, been having it for years. The clam chowder is delicious on Fridays and like all their soups, freshly made. If you are feeling, it their tuna melt is a surprise hit as well.

Delicious burgers!! I got the blue cheese, delicious meat, gluten free bun, fresh onion, lettuce and tomato, the slaw is not for me, a lot of curly Russian kale … Anyway, probably one of the best burgers in Boise
