Mango smoothie 10’s across the board perfect. Cajun pasta 10/10 as well 2nd time having it amazing my family took a bite from my plate and wanted to order it to go. Crème brûlée exceptional. Genuinely best food in dc. Only thing is server left their shift while serving us so we had to ask someone else for the check. Place is cute and perfect for a quick bite

This was my first visit, and it is likely to be my last. The experience did not meet my preferences; however, I attended as part of a group outing with friends. Initially, our waiter claimed that he had not noticed a party of five women seated at a table. Subsequently, he took our order but was absent until the time to settle the bill. The menu was somewhat limited; therefore, I selected the basic chicken and waffles accompanied by eggs. I can state that the meal was satisfactory despite the subpar service. I am uncertain whether to recommend a visit, but I will leave that decision to your discretion.

Alejandro was amazing—-attentive and gave excellent customer service. The food was spectacular!!! Will be back the next time I am visiting the DC area. I had the blackened salmon and it was delicious. Got the grits with cheese also and it was flavorful and satisfying. Can’t wait to return.

Great customer service and delicious food in Hillcrest. Recommend the blackened salmon with lemon caper sauce, lamb chops, brussel sprouts with bacon and craisins, steak, and fries. Pricey, but not too bad for DC, with ample parking. Not a long wait around 5:30 pm on a Friday night, though they were busy.

They quickly accommodated our party of six with two children by putting two tables together. They had two high seats available. The kids menu isn’t written down but our server told us about grilled cheese, pasta, or chicken fingers with fries for them. For my pre-k aged child’s birthday, the host brought a complimentary cheesecake and sang happy birthday, which made my child feel special.

We liked that the restaurant was up front about its 20% service charge and that any tip would be “additional” because DC law eradicates the need for tips.

Only areas for improvement were that we heard the phone go unanswered for a bit, and about a 5-minute wait between the first and last dishes to arrive. But we plan to go back!

First time going to Highlands. A very interesting restaurant. It’s one kinda small but very intimate. The drinks the food were delicious. The wings were piping hot, but the sauce that came with could’ve have been a little more tasteful. It was very bland. But overall I will definitely go back and give this restaurant and chance to redeem itself. The servers were pleasant and polite and I love that.

I loveeee Highlands! I use to go to the original location on 14th street over ten years ago. My last time visiting that location was 2 years ago and it was as good as I remembered. I just discovered this location on Pennsylvania Ave. I love that I can get breakfast anytime. The food is great and it is the closest I can get to a home cooked meal. I didn’t take a photo of the sweet potato square but please try it! It’s so good! Now that I know about this location I will go more often.

Update: the lamb chops were okay, it had a sauce or glaze on them but it didn’t taste like anything.

The Highlands Cafe and Grill is a brand new restaurant in the Penn Branch Shopping Center but behind it and next to the Planet Fitness. I went today for breakfast with the family, and it was a great experience. This place has a great neighborhood feel to it, which is good considering I live about a block from there. The service and food were great, as were the portions. You can tell the menu is rooted in family recipes and classic dishes, some with a modern twist to them. They do breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and they have a bar inside as well. About 40 people in all can enjoy themselves inside. Penn Branch needed a restaurant we can call our own, and Highlands Cafe and Grill delivers on that.

The vibe is great here. The food was good also. We did have to wait a little while but it was worth it. I love that they also support a nonprofit. The customer service was very good. It was cool to see people playing double dutch when we left.

Their happy hour on their menu says Tuesday-Thursday & Saturday, that means Tuesday through Thursday and on Saturday. This is misleading, and when I asked the person working, she acted as if I was making something up! This place is overpriced, and the service is mid! The restaurant up the street as happy hour everyday!

NEVER AGAIN!!! I been to this establishment several times with no issues, but the moment I was not happy with my food I was told my salmon was not dry and that I could repurchase another meal half price.

I was left on hold for 10 mins, my entire drive here. Albert proceeds to take a bar spoon and dig in the salmon that I was bringing back because it was dry TO ME. Albert dug in the food repeatedly telling me to look, “This is not dry” and this clown expected to accept this food back.

I receive better customer service at Chick Fila, Mommy and Daddy need to send Albert to Customer Service training!! He’s a horrible representation of a minority business owner.
