Highland Kitchen still has a great atmosphere, welcoming, and full of character. The food is good, but to be honest, it’s not quite as great as it used to be. I was especially disappointed to see that they took the fish and chips off the menu that used to be one of my favorites. Still, it’s a solid spot for drinks and a good meal, even if it’s lost a bit of its old magic.

I hardly ever write reviews but I always have the absolute best service when I come here. The food is good, particularly the apps & desserts. The atmosphere is cozy & fun. Every single person who works there is so kind and their servers do such a wonderful job. I’ve been here with family, friends & for date nights and the vibes are always immaculate. Most recently had Brenda as our server and she was so lovely. The hospitality industry has been so tough since 2020 and it’s the folks who work in it who keep us coming back. Definitely recommend this spot. Go & tip your servers and bartenders!!

We took a walk to the Highland Kitchen from our hotel. It was definitely worth it. We were greeted promptly, and pur service was friendly. They provided us a place to park our stroller out of the way, and it never felt like an inconvenience. They provided a high chair and offered a coloring sheet with crayons. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich, which was very well done. I was also happy to have malt vinegar with my fries. The food was hot and fresh. My husband ordered the monkfish special. While it wasn’t his favorite, we could tell it was fresh. The pretzel was ok, but the beer cheese dip was fresh and flavorful. The broccolini was good. There was music playing, and the atmosphere was nice even for a family with kids.

It’s a cozy place. We went on Friday and it was pretty loud.

We got roasted chicken and goat stew. Both were pretty good. No real complaints. It’s like Southern comfort food.

We also got the bread pudding. The bread pudding was delicious.

Giving it four stars for service because they didn’t refill our water :(.

It’s a standard American bar, with a cool ambiance when the music is turned up! The food seemed to be themed around the south, with a lot of food evoking New Orleans.

I got the veggie jumbalaya, which I quite enjoyed as a whole, though the long veggies (carrots, etc) threw me off a bit. I wish it had come with cornbread like the spicy (meat) jumbalaya. The blackened catfish po’ boy was also quite good and I’m sure I would have been quite happy with that as well. A couple members of our party got the spicy Nashville hot chicken sandwich, and they definitely aren’t kidding with the warning – it is spicy!

This was everything we were looking for and more! It’s been on my son‘s list to try, so glad we finally made it. We started with the Ricotta Mozzarella Fritters, warm gooey deliciousness. Our entrees were the Veggie Jambalaya and the Blackened Catfish Po’Boy. Both were absolutely scrumptious. Great cocktail and beer selection. Everything about our evening was wonderful from start to finish. Excellent food, service and a very welcoming neighborhood vibe. Highland kitchen will definitely be added into our rotation of favorites.

Loved the Somerville vibe. The wait staff was helpful and pleasant, the food tasty and cooked just right. I had the house cocktail and monk fish. Thanks! D. Patnod, Cambridge. ☺️

My wife and I’ve eaten here three times since moving to the area and we really like it. It is a bit loud, but the food is quite good and the service has also always been good. Eric was our server tonight, and he was extremely nice, accommodating, and attentive. He checked on us often. All of the food tastes very fresh, and homey, but still elevated. The southern dishes, especially are delicious. We recommend anything with corn bread, the specials, the burger – the desserts are great as well! Tonight we had the banana bread pudding, which was quite good, and Keylime pie, which was delicious! Overall, it’s a great neighborhood spot – very lively and often busy! I found a spot that we definitely would recommend.

The banana bread pudding is some of the best bread pudding I’ve ever had! I would come back just for that. We also had the burger & soft pretzel. Only thing I don’t recommend was the pretzel, was oddly hard and thin?
