Isaac. hayley kendall. hayley. are the dream team. I called for a carryout Yesterday around 3 o’clock for an 11 o’clock pick up this morning. I know that they open at 11 so I’m never worried about the five or 10 minutes that sometimes it takes but I come to this store now because being a longtime customer of the Highland House carryout in Highland the last two carry outs I got there the bread was terrible and lasagna was the worst I’ve ever seen it So this morning when I walked in The staff looked at me kind of funny because the person who rang it in yesterday at 3 o’clock rang it in for a pick up today at 3 o’clock. The funny thing about it was that the person on the phone told me they couldn’t do it at 11 o’clock and I said what do you mean I get it from you all the time at 11 o’clock he left the phone and came back and said I’m sorry I didn’t realize it was Thursday tomorrow. It will be ready at 11. I only remember that because of the extra conversation that I took When I walked in at 11 on the dot, obviously the food wasn’t ready No one him hard or stood there, asking for an explanation or asking for a conversation. All four of them turned executed perfectly, and had that salad and breadsticks sitting in front of me within five minutes. I worked in restaurants for about 15 years of my life one of them actually being the Highland House, which was my first job as a 13-year-old boy. I know what the Highland House food supposed to look like and I know what it’s supposed to taste like and the lasagna that I picked up from the Highland House carry out in Highland at zero ricotta cheese in it and very little mozzarella I happen to glance over at the carryout section in the White Lake store and saw that they sell individual lasagnas for $13 That lasagna looked fabulous. It looked like the lasagna I remember every time I get it at the Highland House. Unfortunately, the full pan of lasagna that I paid good money for my customers didn’t even eat it As a matter of fact, one of the customers asked me did I really get this from the house because they go to the Highland House from Flint and told me that they’re lasagna is fantastic The joke of the day was I said back to them I see what you’re saying if I wanted, I guess if I wanted a big pan of mostaccioli, that’s what I would’ve ordered Instead, I got a full pan of lasagna noodles with meat sauce, and a little bit of mozzarella That’s OK though I can have dinner at the Highland House but all my carry outs are going to the Highland House White Lake I hope you will take this criticism for what it is as a learning moment more than a criticism My father Fryklund house every week for most of his life and when my children come home, the first thing they want is a bag of bread and an apple orchard salad So I think I might be a little bit of an authority on what I’m talking about More than anything I have wanted to send this message on the Highland House review in Highland, but I’ve already given them outstanding reviews. Whenever somebody in the car out has gone above and beyond so it won’t let me. Again, the only reason I spend hundreds of dollars monthly got the Highland House for my customers this because of the experience that I got today at the White Lake Highland House carryout I know that you read these reviews and I hope you’ll pass that message onto your staff because being 15 to 30 minutes late for a lunch with my customers is not acceptable Being a pharmaceutical rep and having the opportunity to have lunch with the staff, and with the doctors is critical to my success. I have other choices in the area that I can go to, but because of White Lake I will continue to patronize them and certainly my family and I will have dinner at the Highland House in Highland

I am never one to leave a negative review unless warranted, however, the last three orders I have placed something has been forgotten from my order. I placed an order tonight and when I got home the soup I ordered was missing.
The food is excellent but it is super frustrating when it has now been several times.

Very disappointed in the Apple Orchard Salad I picked up tonight. It was a last minute decision and I typically LOVE this salad when I get it from Highland House. When I picked it up I asked the cashier if they had anything a little greener. It looked very anemic (putting it mildly). I also asked if they make it with Romaine (like the label says), because it looked like the stalks of iceberg. He assured me it was a good mix of the two and handed me one from the back counter. When I got it home it is literally the lettuce that I throw out when making a salad and ALL iceberg. The red bagged apples were actually more green! I can’t think of a single person who who eat this, let alone serve it! It would be very generous to say there is 1 full oz of chicken in this salad! I will not be going back!

The service was ok, except the person who took my phone order misunderstood. They completely missed a meal I ordered. The broasted chicken, like broiled and roasted combined, was good and can feed more than one person. The meal is large, two chicken sides, a wing and a leg. Also with the meal was a side Greek salad, small pasta (or other options of sides), and six delicious bread sticks. I could make a whole meal of the bread sticks alone.
The cafe and carry out is a side business of the original sit down restaurant down the street. A sit down area is inside for a quick bite. They do have a grad and go section for salads, or you can place orders at the counter or ahead by phone.

This place really was a disappoint. Placed order, waited in line out the door for thirty minutes, then once getting to the counter….. Can’t find my order. Incompetent people. I’ll never bother ordering from them again. What a joke.

I ordered the catering celebration special for takeout, and while the food was very good I was very disappointed upon pickup to find that there was an automatic 20% tip charged to my order. Nowhere on the website is this fee mentioned and it is quite ridiculous on a takeout order. I will not be returning for future catering needs as I will not support a business with these kinds of hidden fees.

Friday night. No dine-in allowed. Where do you go for great carryout restaurant food? You need to go Highland Cafe. The line might be a little long, but they keep it moving quick and the food is really worth it.

Usually Highland House is pretty good. This time, not so much. My mom was craving ribs so we stopped got a rib dinner and lasagna for me. The ribs were tough, hard to chew and overcooked. So disappointed. The lasagna was some of the worst. It tasted like 3 day leftovers. Even the Greek salad was bad. The lettuce used was the compacted, yellow center and was in big clumps like it was just taking up space. I asked and paid for extra feta. Didn’t get it. The breadsticks were good, though. The staff was standoffish, like we were a bother even though we were the only customers. I’m thinking we won’t go to Highland House again.
