Great atmosphere for sports enthusiasts staying at the JW Marriott Hill Country Resort. Great food and quick service. There are screens everywhere so you don’t have to worry about missing out on sports updates while here. The mega screen is amazing and it has scores tickets beneath. A must visit while you’re at the resort.

High Velocity is a great spot to watch sports and hang out with friends. The atmosphere is lively without being chaotic, plenty of TVs, good energy, and an easy place to settle in for a game.

The real standout for us was the bartender, Clint. He was genuinely friendly, easy to talk to, and made excellent drinks. You can tell when someone actually enjoys what they do, and it shows. Clint made the experience better than expected and turned a good bar into a memorable one.

We’ll definitely be back.

Velocity Sports Bar hits the spot! The brisket mac n’ cheese is the kind of comfort food you don’t forget…cheesy, smoky, and loaded with flavor. The tacos are just as solid, and if you like cocktails, their tequila mule is a must-try.

The vibe is casual and relaxed, but what really stood out was how perfect the space is for private conversations plenty of room without feeling cramped. A touch on the echoing / noisy side. Add in the friendly staff who keep things moving with a smile, and you’ve got a place worth coming back to.

We had dinner at High Velocity in JW Marriott for the second time, but it was our first time actually dining in. The atmosphere is fun with a huge screen for sports. It can get a little crowded and loud especially on a Saturday night.

Our server, Valeria, recommended the elote dip, and it was a hit! Cheesy dip with Hot Cheetos sprinkled on top definitely a great starter to share. I ordered the brisket mac and cheese. It was good but a little heavy for me. Others in our group got classic burgers and they were super juicy and fresh. My kid ordered the buffalo chicken mac, but it was a bit spicy for him. I’d say classic burger was my favorite.

We were celebrating three birthdays (mine, my kid’s, and a friend’s), and they made it feel really special. We got delicious desserts. I had a brownie, and my friend had pecan pie, both with “Happy Birthday” messages beautifully written on the plates.

It did get busy so service was a little slower but Valeria really tried her best to keep things moving quickly. It was a great night and we had an awesome time celebrating!

The atmosphere at this venue is fantastic for watching a game. We visited during a Texas game, and the energy in the place was electric, making for an enjoyable experience. The crowd was animated and engaged, which added to the overall excitement. However, the service left something to be desired. Although the staff was clearly busy, the wait times were longer than expected, and the level of friendliness could have been improved.

My husband tried the wings and found them to be just okay—nothing particularly special about them. I opted for the nachos, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend them. They did not meet our expectations, especially given the lively environment that surrounded us.

Despite the food issues, the vibrant atmosphere and the thrill of being among fellow fans made our visit memorable. It’s a great place to soak in the excitement of the game, even if the culinary offerings don’t quite match the high energy of the crowd. With a bit of improvement in service and food quality, this venue could truly become a go-to spot for game days. We hope to return in the future, perhaps to catch a different game, and see if our experience improves. Overall, it’s worth a visit for the atmosphere alone, but be prepared for some potential hiccups with service and food.

High Velocity, the sports bar within the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa, is certainly impressive in terms of size and the sheer number of screens. The wraparound display is a fantastic feature, perfect for catching any sporting event. We were there for the Super Bowl, and while the atmosphere was buzzing, our experience was unfortunately marred by the seating situation. Despite being resort guests and arriving specifically for the game, we were never able to get a table even though we got there an hour plus before the game. We endured a very long wait, and while we were told we could sit at the bar with the promise of a table eventually, that never materialized. It was particularly frustrating to see multiple open tables throughout the night, only to be told they weren’t available. These tables then filled up with other patrons, leaving us stuck at the bar for the entire game, which was quite uncomfortable. It’s disappointing, especially since we were staying at the resort and chose High Velocity specifically for the Super Bowl. While the bar itself is visually impressive, the seating management on a busy night clearly needs improvement.

I had a wonderful 5 day stay at the resort.. But, this restaurant is up and down on food and service.. The food was ok, not Marriott, like exceptions . The lady Manger came and made it right, which was great as we didn’t get charged for a certain plate we ordered. Later on at night I went to play pool with my son. I wanted a craft beer. I had the bad opportunity to meet the bar, keep named Luke. Before any words were exchanged, he was already giving me the stink eye. So I ignored it, ordered my beer, and with his rude service, I made up my mind not to leave a tip.. So, I did tap pay to close out quickly cause other people were waiting to play pool also. I paid, and I told Luke I don’t a receipt. This is when he got ugly and said in a racist tone this a resort, and we give receipts . So I need my receipt. Yes, this the bar keeps talking. So, as a brown man I took like, wow, this guy’s thinks I am just visiting and can’t afford to stay here. That was very racist towards me as a brown man. 1 apple spoils the bunch. One thing of the resort was that there were all walks of life having fun and being very respectful. Luke deserves to be relocated or let go cause there is no place for his type of energy in the Marriott universe.. It’s sucks writing this cause u don’t want to be that person. It must be told that this type of behavior should have no place in an establishment where the consumer pays top dollar at every corner of this resort. Happy Health to all..

We walked in to request a table for 8 to watch the Steelers game. The hostess was very kind and quickly had us seated. Lawrence was the waiter and was AMAZING! He took the time to get to know us and took great care of all of us. The bonus: Lawrence is originally from Cali! Woot woot! Also…the Steelers won!

We also noticed the quality of food went down. Came here last year this time and the nachos were amazing! Everyone else had food envy. I was super looking forward to ordering them again, did, and was disappointed. Very noticeable downgrade. Hate to leave a bad review, but y’all need to know. Please fix it. This is an annual trip for us and at this rate, we’ll be eating off site again and again.
