The scones were warm and fresh, and all the finger sandwiches, mini hors d’oeuvres, and desserts were so yummy. I honestly never thought I’d say I was full from a tea house, but here we are! On top of that, the staff was super friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Such a fun, cozy & warm outing — we will definitely go again!
Highly recommend!
However, my experience took a very negative turn at checkout. My primary card declined several times for reasons I’m still unsure of, so I had to use a different card. Because of that issue, the amount I was able to put on the second card was limited. I left a tip based on what I was able to charge at the time.
After we left, the waitress came out into the parking lot yelling, accusing me of not leaving a fair tip and questioning whether we thought her service was good enough. Her approach was aggressive and hostile. To have seen my card declining you would hope that there would be some understanding.
I spent close to $300 supporting this establishment and even purchased additional items to take home. There was no consideration for the payment issue I experienced, and being confronted in that manner was completely inappropriate and unprofessional.
Unfortunately, because of how this was handled, I will not be returning.
We had a 4:00 PM reservation on December 7th for 2 adults and 3 children under age 10, booked by phone. At no point during the reservation call, upon arrival, or during the meal were we told that this was a special holiday event priced at $60 per person, with no children’s pricing, even for preschool-age kids.
No menu or pricing was provided at the table. We only learned of the cost at checkout, which was extremely surprising given the pricing publicly listed elsewhere. We expected to pay $21.95 per child. Imagine our shock to be charged $60 (for a 4 year old who barely even ate anything!)
That said, the tea itself was enjoyable, and we really appreciated their ability to accommodate gluten-free and nut allergies, which they handled well. The variety of teas was impressive.
Afterward, I emailed the owner to raise these concerns and was told he would look into it, but I never received a follow-up. He said the pricing is on their website and social media but on their website it’s buried in the events page and I don’t follow their social media. I made a phone call and booked a tea reservation and didn’t expect to have to cross reference multiple online sources for accurate pricing. Unfortunately, the lack of transparency and follow through overshadowed the experience and left us with a pour taste for what should have been a lovely holiday treat.
Strongly recommend confirming exact price per person and asking specifically about event pricing when booking by phone, especially around holidays.
