High Point Restaurant

  4.7 – 706 reviews  $$$ • Fine dining restaurant

Social Profile:

Built inside a 1929 mansion that presumably once was financed by Al Capone, the restaurant serves a menu of traditional gourmet dishes including Brie en Croute, Blackened Salmon Oscar and Black Thai Duck. The mansion that houses the restaurant was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997 and still features the original escape hatches and underground tunnels that were used by Capone to transfer liquor during the Prohibition Era. In 2001, High Point received the Best Gourmet Meal in Tennessee award from Tennessee magazine.

Historic circa-1929 mansion with Al Capone history is a quaint setting for gourmet American plates.

We discovered High Point about five years ago. Each time we go, we are more impressed than the last. The menu choices are extensive. Starting with an impressive list of appetizers and moving on to phenomenal salads, and a complete mix of entrées. Service is always first class. They treat you like a valued guest. We have never been disappointed.

My wife and I really enjoyed our date night here. It is very expensive so take some extra money but it’s worth it. A+ on taste, presentation, portion size….

This is a great place that has some unique menu choices. The fried lobster tail had incredible flavor and was melt in your mouth tender. We’re still talking about the pork belly appetizer a week later! Great atmosphere, great service, great food. Definitely a 10 out of 10.

A one and done experience. My husband and I are from out of town, but visit due to family being in the area. We’ve had High Point on our radar for the last several visits and finally found a spot in our schedule to dine here. I don’t know what other fine dining options are available around here, but I would not choose to go back to High Point again.

Very nice place to eat. Steeped in American history as the former home of al capone notorious mobster in early America. It’s now filled with much more friendly people and savory meals.

My fiancé & I traveled here for his surprise birthday trip. The service, atmosphere and food has been the best we have ever had. (We are big food people). The service was seriously amazing.. we haven’t had great service in no telling how long. We can’t wait to come back! Thank you for such a wonderful dinner. This place is amazing!

I’m never disappointed when I dine with High Point. My absolute favorite item on the menu would have to be the Lobster Bisque and Steak Oscar. They have a wonderful selection of wine and drinks as well. I always love one of their appetizers. Top 3 for me are the slab of bacon, New Orleans shrimp or fried green tomatoes, but you can’t go wrong with any one of them. If you have the pleasure of being served by Victoria, you can bet you will have the best care. Don’t forget the dessert! My two favorites are the grilled pound cake and the chocolate lava cake. Both come with vanilla ice cream and round out your dinner with the perfect amount of sweetness.

My husband and I had dinner at High Point to celebrate his birthday. We had been there before, but not recently. The menu was extensive. The food was delicious. The service was exceptional. I highly recommend the grilled pound cake for dessert. My husband and I agreed that this was the best meal we have had in several months.
