The service and atmosphere was GREAT! The coffee was delicious! The food was good just not quite a good enough portion for cost. My bagel breakfast sandwich came with one small strip of bacon split in half, so 2 small pieces for the whole sandwich. But it did taste good, just not enough bacon lol. It was 3 friends and I with our kiddos and the employees were great and so nice to all of us!

Absolute lovely coffee shop. The pumpkin frappe was amazing. The staff so nice. And the atmosphere they even have lots of games you can play. It’s such a cool cozy local place. Don’t sleep on it.

Great atmosphere that was open and bright – there are plants around the space and a lot of natural light with large windows at the front. Plenty of seating and great decor. They were very friendly when taking our orders and our drinks and fruit bagels were delicious. We plan to meet here again when in town.

Great shop! The barista asked me to check my drink to be sure it was sweet enough. They adjusted it for me, and I love that! It’s a great little spot to catch a warm drink and a cozy place to read a book. Lots of natural lighting. Comfy chairs and couches. Great staff!

i came here for the first time last week. the staff was not very welcoming, and there were children loudly running and stomping around.

my hot latte was warm at best and had no sweetness to it at all. even when i asked for more sugar, it tasted bad. i also ordered a grilled cheese with sun dried tomatoes. it was mediocre at best.

i wanted to enjoy it here. there are not many sit down, cafe style coffee shops in decatur. however, i wasn’t even able to read in there because it was too noisy and distracting even with my headphones on.

Having previously enjoyed visits to Highpoint, I was looking forward to another delightful experience with their new hours and expanded menu options. Unfortunately, today’s visit fell short of the standards I have come to expect from this establishment.

The service was notably poor. The cashier was distracted, absorbed in her phone, texting, and didn’t even glance up as we placed our order. This inattentiveness led to us having to repeat our order multiple times, which was both frustrating and unprofessional.

The coffee, which is usually a highlight, was disappointing. I ordered a butter pecan latte; however, it tasted overwhelmingly like plain milk and poorly brewed coffee—bitter and lacking the distinctive butter pecan taste. The coffee was not dialed in like I normally experience from the shop.

As for the food, the chicken and waffles were just okay. There was no effort in presentation, and the dish did not justify its price.

Overall, today’s experience was underwhelming, and I hope this was an isolated incident. I’m hoping for a return to the exceptional service and quality I have previously experienced.

Very disappointed in the recent downturn of High Point. Not only are the staff inexperienced and unfriendly, the drinks are consistently below average. The final straw for me occurred when I ordered a hot chocolate for my son and was handed a cup that looked like dirty water… essentially warm water with a squirt of chocolate syrup. When I brought it to the barista’s attention, they stared at it for an uncomfortably long time before asking, “Do you want me to remake it?” Unfortunately, the second attempt was still poor. For what should be one of the easiest drinks on the menu, the result was unacceptable.

Beyond the drinks and service, the atmosphere has deteriorated significantly. The obvious use of AI-generated marketing makes the business feel cheap and inauthentic. Much of the local art/goods that once made this space special have also been removed.

I have young children myself and understand that kids are not always quiet or perfectly behaved. That said, the level of disorder I have repeatedly observed here goes far beyond occasional noise. I’ve seen children tossing board game pieces on the floor and leaving them behind (when I went to pick them up, I was told by one of the owner’s children, “Oh, don’t worry. My mom will clean that up.”), running through the space, intentionally slamming themselves onto the ground, and just being generally chaotic. This behavior has become routine rather than the exception. In a cafe where people are trying to study, read, or have conversations, this is disruptive and inappropriate.

What used to be a cozy retreat and a place I regularly visited has lost the qualities that made it special. Until there are meaningful improvements in drink quality, professionalism, and overall management of the space, I cannot recommend High Point.

The first “coffee” I received was just steamed milk and some peppermint syrup without coffee. When I asked them if they put coffee in there they hadnt and made an espresso shot and proceeded to just pour it on top of the steamed milk and syrup and stirred. They handed it back to me and it was cold and bitter. They have no coffee sleeves so they cut up a bag and slid my cup in there. They grabbed the owner and he said he could make it and when they handed me another cup it was still incredibly bitter and tasteless. This is not the high quality coffee and experience that those who have been faithful to the original high point are. They need to rebrand because it’s deceptive to those who have been loyal customers for years.

Perfect compliment to downtown Decatur! Their Dirty Chai is perfect! They use a mix that’s not too sweet. My friend got a mocha latte, also perfect level of sweet.

Love the vibe! Best place to sit and get work done too. Lots of tables. Great for productivity.

Very disappointed. My first visit to Highpoint was early 2025 and I had a great experience. When I went back in December, I was very dissatisfied. The coffee had no flavor and the food was lackluster. I decided to give it another shot the next month and it was even worse. There was only one worker who said he couldn’t even make coffee. When he tried, it was extremely watery and poor quality. He attempted to make it again with the same result. When I asked for a refund, he said he wasn’t sure how to do that and offered to Cashapp me from his personal account. He said someone else was supposed to come in at 8:30, but if the hours begin at 7, someone who can make coffee at a coffee shop should be there when the shop opens. They also have a very loud tv playing which makes it difficult to spend more than a couple minutes doing work or even talking. I am very sad about the decline of the shop and will not be back. Do not recommend.
