What a hidden Gem! So glad we stopped in. We had the pulled pork potato salad and slaw. The pulled pork was soooo tender and flavorful. No sauce needed although there bbq and mustard sauce was excellent as well. The ice-cream was amazing we had the raspberry and vanilla bean. Never really had any ice cream that taste like that. People were very friendly as well. Might be cool for a day trip for another visit. Just a quick note…I live in NC home of the BEST BBQ but I have to say this was very close to my top pick

We stumbled across High Plains Barbecue today, and wow! We were greeted by kind man (I’m pretty sure he’s the owner) who took the time to tell us about the specials and how every single side is made from scratch. You can taste the love and care in every bite.
The brisket was melt-in-your-mouth tender with that perfect smoky crust, and the sauce was a 10. The potato salad and slaw were next-level… fresh, flavorful, and clearly homemade.
The inside dining area is cozy, clean, and full of charm, with string lights and a relaxed vibe that makes you want to stay awhile. You can tell this place was built with heart, not just for good food but for good people.
If you’re anywhere near this area, don’t pass it up. It’s easily a 10/10 experience—one of those meals you talk about all the way home. We’ll definitely be back!

We are traveling to Niagara Falls on our motorcycles, we stopped in to grab some of the best barbecue we have ever ate. The side dishes were absolutely amazing as well as the owners who took their time to talk with us.

This was a great visit. Being from memphis we obviously have some critiques . I will say, the folks here checked in Multiple times on how we were doing; service was A+. While the meat was juicy, it comes with one tiny bbq sauce. No problem, I got another, but we like it SAUCY…..slathering in sauce. Not happening here.
The Texas toast was just a piece of bread that was barely grilled. It was nothing like Texas toast. This is an easy fix tho!
Sides are a bit small. So for $40 for two people we expected a bit more, but in this day in age, everyone has high prices, so maybe just where the market is at.
I’m also now realizing in my hungered state I never took pictures of the food!
Ps the outdoor space is fantastic!
Would try it again and just ask up front for hella sauces!

Stopping in the area for the weekend, we obviously tried the highest Yelp reviewed place.
The service was excellent! They answered all of the questions we had and followed up several times to make sure the experience was good.
The food…Unfortunately, they were out of beef brisket. 5pm on a Friday seems like the worst time to not have brisket. We went with the pulled pork (pictured) and the beef ribs. Well, rib. I was a little shocked by the portion size. When I think of the best BBQ place in town, I think that I’m going home with the meat sweats. Not even close. Maybe a 4-5oz portion of pork and one beef rib. The sides were pretty small and the “Texas Toast” is a slightly toasted, thin piece of bread with no seasoning.
This is probably the best the area has to offer. At $50 for two meals that we left hungry from, we can’t imagine going back.

This place is conveniently located right off the highway. The restaurant sits on a hill and offers both indoor and outdoor seating, all with nice views. Parking is on a gravel lot, spots can be a bit limited.
We shared a brisket plate with collard greens and three-bean salad on the side. The three-bean salad was refreshing and full of flavor. The collard greens were slightly spicy but good when added to a brisket sandwich.
When we ordered, we were told the brisket didn’t need any sauce — it was indeed tender and fell apart easily. Still, we tried the sweet BBQ sauce and really enjoyed dipping the brisket in it.

Everything about this place screams stop. We didn’t even know we wanted BBQ but the rating was so high we knew it would be worth while. My husband and I are passing through, and if we ever pass through again we will make the stop. The sides are amazing, I’m not sure what Lisa below is all upset about. Yeah they are different but they are real, made with real ingredients, and LOVE. Everything about this place feels like it comes from love. The owner is amazing and although we didn’t know he was a veteran before we left, we could tell, and then the reviews confirmed it. From two fellow vets to another, thank you sir for the amazing dinner and hospitality. Stay blessed!

The food here is great. The pulled pork BBQ is good. Three kinds of sauces, all good. The sides are all made in house and are fresh tasting, good recipes. You can get a piece of sourdough toast that is a great addition to the plate. The service is great. The owners are very nice and patient and explain the whole menu for you. There is inside seating and a very nice three tiered deck with picnic tables to eat outside.

Great food and service! We had the brisket, pork ribs and brisket ends. Each of the sides were also delicious— our favorite being the 3 bean salad. I absolutely loved that everything was homemade. Definitely a must try if you’re in the area. For us, we were traveling back to Ohio from South Carolina and it was at a perfect midway point.

Took the last beef rib of the day!Delicious, pork ribs were great as well! Portion size was more than enough. Met the chef, he was super friendly and appreciative of our stopping in. Believe us sir, the pleasure was all ours! The whole staff were all super welcoming, and that was well recieved after a 10 hour drive Ambiace was great. We ate outside. If we are back in the area, we will return, but highly recommend to all BBQ lovers. Enjoy!
