This is a small community type restaurant.
You order from the cashier and they bring the food to you. The place was clean and organized, which is important.
My husband and I shared a breakfast burrito. I got a cappuccino and he got the cafe mocha.
Both were really good and personally my favorite part of the visit.
The breakfast burrito was good. It is NOT 100% New Mexican authentic due to the spices they use… however, it was still good. The Green Chile had a decent spice, which is hard to find in this area of NM. The Red Chile needed more flavor.
We enjoyed ourselves. The food and atmosphere gave a small local homemade feel. The quality of the food is pretty good considering the low prices (food is definitely prepared ahead of time, but in this case it wasn’t a horrible thing as it didn’t affect the flavor much), which is awesome. We were served on paper plates alongside plasticware. The coffee was served in actual mugs which were good sized.
The plastic/paper waste to save time on dishes is my only dislike. It is just unnecessary landfill waste to save maybe 30 seconds of time using reusable dishes. This is a personal belief, of course.
I kept going back and forth about whether to take a star away from 5 to 4, but decided against it considering the restaurant is good for what it is.
The staff were super friendly and the service was quick.
We will be back when we have the time to make the drive!

High Mountain Grill is the greatest addition to the NM14 corridor in my 8 years of living here! All the food is excellent, portion sizes are filling, the service is solid, prices reasonable, and the staff/owners are super personable. The restaurant is clean, cozy, and bright. Tom and Sue are very accommodating of flexing items a bit to deal with dietary restriction if they possibly can. The smothered breakfast burrito, roast beef quesadilla, Rueben, and double patty burger are four of my favorites. It’s a rare week that I don’t make it in 2-3 times. Highly recommend!

When you walk into High Mountain Grill its like walking into a friends kitchen. Sue and Tom have made something special in these mountains. The food, coffee and sweet treats has never let me down it’s always consistent which is hard to find now a days. I am working my way thru most of the menu. Stand out for me is the breakfast sammich you have to add mayo and green chile, also the patty melt dipped in red chile You can taste the love and effort in the food. The chile has a kick that’s not for tourists lol. We have to keep this place alive because having an option for some hot fresh well made, affordable food is incredible! Especially for people living on this side of the mountain, options are very limited! Everytime I walk into High Mountain Grill I know I’m gonna have a delicious meal! Thanks for feeding me Sue and Tom I appreciate y’all so much

I ate it all. Went for the biscuits and gravy but I guess it’s a breakfast item and I got there after 12. I will be back. Only reason for 5 stars is because I don’t like to pay that much for 1 meal. But I guess it was 2 different items.

I work my life away right now, so busy. This family has opened a lot of joy around here, most likely not the only local around here. Always perfect service, and if you got time, great conversation. Just don’t slow down the great meals. Have not ate anything yet that I haven’t truly enjoyed. Just starting the breakfast menu though. keep it up.

Forget bland post-adventure meals – this place is the ultimate reward after your hike or bike ride! The atmosphere is electric with friendly people, the food is absolutely top-notch, and the prices are shockingly reasonable. Seriously, your taste buds are in for a treat; stopping in for one of their mouthwatering burgers or sensational enchiladas is an experience you won’t want to miss

I went to eat lunch today with my family. Nice place, family friendly. Football was on their big TV (not a fan myself, but it’s the season and Sunday ‍♀️) Very convenient location for us that live close by with no other cafe/restaurant around, also for people driving by 337 it’s right next to the road with parking space and a grocery store right next to it too, which makes it an ideal stop for travelers. I ordered an enchilada (flour tortilla, but very thin it took me a moment to realize it was not corn!) be warned that the red sauce on it is very hot even for this Mexican but it was so good I ate it all! The cinnamon rolls were perfect to put out the fire in my mouth, very delicious with the icing on top. My husband ate a Ruben sandwich that was very very good! They have Dr Pepper (I hate it but my husband loves it) Iced tea, lemonade and other sodas from the self serving machine. The people were very friendly and helpful. They all looked happy and it was great to see smiling faces. I wish they could open every day! We will be regulars for sure ❤️

Excellent breakfast burrito. The Red is a true New Mexico medium spicy. Quality ingredients for an appropriate price. Be a good neighbor and help support our community up here. I suggest waking up early and starting your morning with friends and great food. For those of you down in the big town, it’s worth the drive! Make an adventure out of it, grab a bike/hike/walk then sit down for a perfectly portioned, affordable, delicious bite. I bet you’ll forget whatever else you were supposed to do and spend the rest of the day galavanting around the mountains.

The only suggestion I have is switch the tv for a radio and keep the coffee “too strong”

Shoots I’m gonna head over there now….
