The staff is nice and fast with their service.
I ordered the Eggnog latte, which was not too sweet, and flavorful. I also got the Coffee Cake donut that was warmed up and tasted pretty good.
The coffee was okay — pretty standard. Unfortunately, toward the end of our visit the atmosphere became a bit uncomfortable due to a loud humming noise, likely from a fridge or machine, which gave us a headache and made us leave early.
I’d still come back for a quick visit, especially for the charm and character of the place.
I worked from the cafe for hours and felt completely relaxed the entire time. Time flew by.
Highly recommend this coffee spot!
Unfortunately they’re slightly out of my way and I work nights so I don’t get them often and I don’t have a picture, but this is the coffee I tell stories about, the coffee that I literally write home about, the coffee that I dream of when I choke down another bitter espresso from Starbucks or another sugary barely coffee from Dutch.
Miss you guys and hopefully I’ll see you soon.
Service: 9/10 really nice manager- maybe owner walked us through the menu and helped us order the best pastries and coffee beverages. Some guy took one of our coffees so had to wait to get the second.
Pastry/Croissant: 10/10 got a doughnut, desert toaster pastry, and an Almond Croissant. All were fantastic and they heated them up first to perfection.
Egg/Omelette: 9/10 got a breakfast burrito with egg potato, cheese and spinach. It was on the smaller side but was delicious.
Coffee: 9/10 got a Latte and it tasted perfect the only thing I’d change is since I was dining in, would have liked it in a cozy mug Vs a to go cup
Location: 9/10 easy to find and park in Mission Viejo.
Ambience/View: 8/10 cute inside with some subtle music playing. A couple small tables outside but would be very close to the parking lot and no views outside.
Menu: 9/10 great choices for some simple breakfast and pastry items. Customized the coffee with almond or oat milk and plenty of great beverages.
Price: 10/10 very reasonable pricing on the lower end and would be a place you could go any morning.
I had a gift card in my hand – turns out it was for the wrong coffee shop (High Tide instead of High Grounds). She said, “Just so you know, your gift card is for High Tide, this is High Grounds.” I laughed it off and said, “Oh my goodness, that’s okay, let me just grab my wallet.”
As I started walking to my car, she called out, “So do you still want to order with us? High Tide is just up the road in Laguna Hills if you want to go there instead.” Caught off guard, I said, “Yes, of course, I’m here, I already put in my order, I just need to grab my wallet.”
But at that point, I was so put off by her attitude that I picked up my son and said, “You know what, just cancel my order. I don’t want to order with you.” The whole interaction was just unnecessarily rude, not the kind of energy you need when you’re just trying to grab a coffee before a long day at work.
