We popped in at 5 on a Saturday, right when they opened. A large group had called ahead with their order for the broasted chicken (which is recommended) so we ordered mushrooms while we waited for our chicken. We were told right off the bat that our wait for chicken would be about 45 minutes due to the large order, and we were very willing to wait. The mushrooms were delicious.
We ordered a whole chicken, mixed ( 2 each of breasts, wings, drumsticks, and thighs) and a side of fries. The chicken was a touch on the smaller side than what you might think, but was hot and juicy and definitely more than what we needed for 2 people. We were not able to finish the generous portion of fries.

Food and drinks were great but it’s so hard to find good employees… I tried to hire her on the spot! Employees make the business and I’d drive that hour to see her anytime. Shawna!!! We were looking to go somewhere different. I heard about this place from friends. Had the broasted chicken, baked potato and salad bar. The salad bar was, meh, the baked potato was great and the chicken was delicious! Our waitress “Woody” was great, very nice and personable. If you love chicken, you need to stop at the Hide Out in Germantown!! Love this place!! Best chicken in NW IA. Make sure to call ahead otherwise it’s a little bit of a wait. Staff was super friendly, quiet atmosphere, and you get a free shot of peppermint schnapps when you leave!

Best chicken around! I worked in a deli when in high school and our speciality was chicken and salads..this taste just like the broasted chicken that was made there. They have a great staff! We have never had to wait to long…gives us time to visit with friends.
