Great diner style type of place. I ordered the short stack with bacon. The pancakes were soft and moist, which allowed it to soak up the syrup. And the bacon was nice and crispy. And let me add that they do not skimp out on the bacon. I also ended up trying the corn beef hash which was good but not for me. The prices are very cheap compared to places in NY in spite of them raising up the prices. For 3 people we ended up paying around $33! A good hefty breakfast with coffee included! Where else can you find a cheap delicious breakfast?!

A Hicksville classic!
I’ve lived in Hicksville my entire life and have been here many many time. It’s a nice a simple place that serves up good breakfast and lunch. Small menus keep quality and it’s always quality when you come here.
The other day I got the western omelet. Great size, great taste, made fresh and fast. The coffee is good and the waitress is always walking around freshening it up for you. You can’t really beat the price and quality of the breakfast in the area.
Great food, great people, great value.

Also the place has amazing fried fish broiled fish something you wouldn’t expect to find so good at a diner. Love hicksville sweet shop!!!!

Classic old school luncheonette. Good food, good value, good service, good cup o’ joe. You come in here knowing what you want and knowing what your gonna get. It’s my first time back here in 27 years or so and I love that it’s virtually the same. I’ll definitely come back in a couple weeks.

If after your trip to IKEA, Theodore Roosevelt Home, or Jones Beach you would like to treat yourself to a surviving piece of Long Island History, the Sweet Shop on Broadway is just that place. A minute or two walk from the Hicksville train station, the sweet shop has stood the test of time for good reason; Seventy years ago people enjoyed quality natural food, in a spotless location, cooked and served by friendly and capable staff at reasonable prices,,, and still can here at the sweet shop in Hicksville. As your walk in, the owner may just be taking a pick-up order on the dial phone on the wall behind the register. While the menu is worth a look, you will notice the regulars concentrate on the specials board. The Athenian is an excellent choice on a cold evening, and the stroganoff exemplifies the idea of comfort food. But remember, these are specials and may get crossed off early, so bear this in mind when planning a visit. A great finish is a waffle-sundae, Homemade waffle, homemade ice cream, homemade whipped cream,,,,,and when I ask as nicely as possible (and it has not run out for the season) a drizzle of Sweet Shop honey, from the owners hive, tops off the treat! While you could leave without at least a look at the homemade chocolates, If you see your favourite, don’t think twice about waiting till next time, as like the specials,, they are too often gone. The sweet shop isn’t your trendy exciting place, Show me one of those that has aged as well as this.

I got a chocolate ice cream soda but it was more like a milkshake. It was milk, chocolate syrup, and maybe 2 spoons of chocolate ice cream with some whipping cream on top. It had no carbonated liquid in it. I didn’t like it.
The service was also bad. Forget about a neutral attitude, the employees were borderline annoyed at me being there.
The one thing I did like was the classic diner look it had when I walked in. The guy that made my “soda” also had that diner hat.
I really like looking at the history on the walls, like seeing the 25¢ meal deal back in the 30s. It was really cool.
