Started with a lack of service. Having to stop a member of staff to place an order for drinks after sitting down for 15 + minutes.
After this, the service improved and the food was reasonable.
A quite unique experience, with some nice food choices. We tried freckles, which were quite nice. The Chicken fajitas are much better than the beef version, so would recommend those.
Slightly remote location, requires a taxi either way if staying in Southport.
Overall, a nice experience with a possibility to be more efficient and give a better service.

Absolutely stunning! Free popcorn was a lovely start. I ordered the side Mac and cheese but I didn’t specify so got the main one but that’s on me It was beautiful. The gravy was the best I’ve ever had.

Brilliant Five stars all round.

Family-friendly, dog-friendly and just super friendly all round; food and drinks at the bar in old-school 70s leather swivelling bar chairs.

Foods and private booths available if you find the NFL overwhelming—two games playing at the same time in the main bar area (but there’s also a wee Disney cinema for the kids, if you fancy taking a break to watch the games).

Update, Dec. 2025: The food is also excellent

First time visiting a Hickory’s and for the most part it was a great experience. The layout and vibe was spot on for the theme they’re aiming for, and the staff in particular were very attentive and hard-working. The shrimp starter was a bit of an unusual mix and probably wouldn’t have it again, but the huge burger and the beef rib were both fantastic. The biggest let down was the sodas, which tasted of very little and felt like paying just shy of £5 for a mug of icy water. Would happily come again, though, and just avoid the bits that didn’t quite hit the mark the next time. Oh and the popcorn style complimentary nibble at the beginning – they’re very moreish! Well done, guys.

We’ve visited this Hickory’s a few times now and have always had a great experience. Top tier service every time, incredible food with good portions, chill rustic country atmosphere and plenty of parking space. On our last visit we arrived much earlier than expected to a warm welcome, and they managed to accommodate us. I was looking forward to the food all week and it delivered on the day dreams.

The legend that served us (Sorry we didn’t catch your name) went above and beyond with an awesome gesture that absolutely made our day. All of the staff that served us were awesome and very friendly. Food was served promptly, presented well and tasted incredible. The Blueberry Lemonade is always a highlight. The slush was immaculate. Thank you. ⭐️

Best Hickory’s.

First visit to a Hickory’s today.
We were a little concerned when directions took us to the middle of a housing estate, but that’s exactly where we were meant to be.
Friendly, helpful, and welcoming staff. The smell of this fabulous smokehouse was promising upon entry. It didn’t disappoint.
Ample on-site car parking, smoking area outside, garden, dog friendly bar area (water bowls and treats inside the entrance), cinema room for little people, good clean facilities, and you can see and hear the food being cooked.
Once seated out waiter introduced themselves and brought popcorn and water for the table.
Good menu options. We went with the 3am Mac n Cheese and Earl Grey tea and a half rack of ribs with fries and an alcoholic slushy for grown-ups.
We skipped starters and were too full for afters!
There is no need to tip. It’s included in the bill. So do be mindful.
Very enjoyable experience, and we would definitely go again.

Never been here before and didn’t know what to expect. Did not expect the huge portions for one! We ordered chicken wings and garlic pretzel bites for starters, and the platter for 2 for our main. Also onion rings and mac and cheese for side. Disclaimer- you do not need sides with the platter. Omg. Food for days! All meats fall apart and cooked really really well. Everything delicious. Not a fan of the corn bread though. Tasted sweet but each to their own. Paid 105 for everything. Definitely recommend the blueberry lemonade too. 10/10 will be going back

Hickory’s remains a favourite for family gatherings. Their vast menu offers all kinds of American classics, many of them BBQ/grilled with a spicy kick. The place looks great, decked out in wood, corrugated iron and filled with retro USA roadside ephemera. Our son (3) really enjoys the food and when he’s eaten, he likes to sit in their cinema room and watch whatever the other kids are enjoying. They also provide lots of free popcorn, that keeps him quiet and helps pass the time between ordering and receiving your meals. The staff are always very friendly and hospitable. Portions are generous and ridiculous in some cases. A typical night out here for the three of us usually costs a little under £100, so we tend to visit once a quarter, usually on a special occasion. We’ve only had dinner here, but I would love to try their breakfast.
