I stopped into Hickory Roasters hoping for a satisfying meal but left disappointed. The food was served at room temperature, which really took away from the flavor and overall enjoyment. The wood roasted chicken had potential, but without being served hot, it fell flat. I didn’t even finish my meal.

The sides were also underwhelming. The mashed potatoes tasted like they came from a mix, and the gravy was far too salty for my taste. While the setup of the restaurant is appealing and the concept is good, the execution on this visit just wasn’t there. Unfortunately, both the food quality and the overall experience fell short of expectations.

Enjoyed the Tuesday, 5 Taco special. Had them made Mexican style…Steak, Asada,and Chicken. Absolutely delicious! Meats were so flavorful, and plentiful! The smoky taste, with the cilantro and onions paired up perfectly.

Next time going for the 1/2 Chicken dinner…have been told the chicken is astounding

This place has a great concept that I was really excited about, however, the energy from entering, the low lighting, and the lack of flavor and overcooked sides An undercooked chicken are definitely turn off. There was slight kindness from the gentleman behind serving the food however, the cashier was rather, indifferent. The food definitely lax flavor when it comes to the mac & cheese, potatoes, and the biscuit that I had. The chicken wing was flavored nice, but then the breast of the chicken was very dry and almost rubbery. As a black woman, I know chicken and I love chicken and was excited when I saw the 4.2 star rating, very underwhelmed and very disappointed. I’m sad to say I took a A few bites of everything and was dismayed, and unfortunately God forgive me. I threw everything out.

Food is really good, it looks unassuming from the outside, but inside there’s a really decent Mexican menu with some of the best quesabirria con consome in the area and yeah better than TJ nearby. The consome here is thick, rich and flavorful, you will want it by the bowl and they give a generous amount of it. I highly recommend it, the roasted chicken is good and a dinner with 2 sides means you can have a lot of options here besides rice and beans. The michealda is decent too if you want to wash down the meal with something fresh and flavorful. Service is good, everyone is friendly. Ribs were a little dry but overall that’s the only thing I can think of I would call short coming but maybe that’s more of a preference.

First time eating here for take out. We ordered the family chicken meal with 4 sides. Chicken was tender, juicy and flavorful. There’s a nice variety of sides. Prices are reasonable, and service was quick and friendly. Would recommend.

– Very fast service. It hit the spot.
– My favorite food was definitely the steak tacos flavor/seasoning with authentic salsas and the chopped salad had a very fresh taste.
– The vibe was homey with the TV running in the background.
– Decent sized parking lot.
– Low noise level and just overall pretty peaceful to sit down and enjoy a steak or chicken dinner.
– Lots of variety for everyone in the menu as well.

Fantastic chicken lunch spot in the Arlington heights area. PRICES are AMAZING. 1/2 chicken with 2 sides is $12 (which is plenty of food). Only $9 for 1/4 chicken with 2 sides!!!!!!!! Chicken is perfectly cooked with excellent seasoning. Plenty of side options. Looking to try their ribs next time!

Finally stopped in for Sunday dinner takeout. Was really looking forward to trying someplace new. Ordered the family chicken dinner and ribs. The chicken was extremely dry, even the dark meat. The ribs were really off, dry and flavorless. After a few polite bites we threw it all away. Wish I had read the reviews first.

Staff was ready and willing to serve us and greeted us promptly upon arrival, we got our food to go as it was late we got a whole roasted chicken and a large order of Birria chicken ! Great food from nice people! What more can I say, cant wait to go back!
