I have been to a lot of BBQ places with different dollar signs around this country, but I was pleasantly surprised by this little place. It is simple, order the food and they will bring it to you and the BBQ is way beyond my expectations. I tried the ribs, great rub and tenderness, the chicken, even the breast piece is juicy and flavourful with rosemary, and the briskets, you can actually taste the smokey hickory immersed into the meat…Outstanding. I will definitely skip the pretentious lines at Carson’s and Chicago Q and drive 1.5 hrs to this place for a feast. These people knows what real BBQ is. Only one suggestions, make the hot BBQ source hotter!

I was doing an errand in McHenry and came across this great place for a meal. It is easy to find, has good parking, and wow really tasty! The weekly vegi special for one of the sides was really great. Not what I would normally pick but ssooo glad I did . It is really good . The place was clean and it’s not super big but still lots of seats. My pulled pork sandwich was cooked just right, it was a good portion, and came with 2 sides. The cornbread muffin was a good choice but I could have used a little honey or maybe some honey butter. It did come with some butter though. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This place is now saved as one of my favorites! PS they have pulled pork Tacos that I am excited to try on my next visit!

Midwestern boomers version of BBQ. Might as well have gone to Arby’s, the brisket tasted like somebody pour liquid smoke in the oven for 6 hours. Pulled pork was almost average for some bites, and like a mcrib on others, and I don’t mean that in the fanboi way. The pulled pork tacos would have been the star(?) of this middle school talent show had they warmed the corn tortillas. I’m not even sure what the problem is with the Mac and cheese, but when my 13 year old won’t finish a side of it, I’ll assume it’s as tasty as the corn bread muffin… I won’t ask for a refund, please use that to improve, as I see some potential, it’s just poorly executed.

Sad day 5/14/21.
After enjoying this awesome place almost weekly from the day it opened (9 years ago), the Hpit has closed down.
That was alot of brisket platters!

New in town and this place was recommended to us. It wasn’t what I was expecting, but not in a bad way. I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich and sweet potato French fries. Hubby ordered the two meats of brisket and pulled chicken with baked beans. My chicken was very tender, but really didn’t have much flavor. Thankfully the mustard BBQ sauce was quite tasty! I enjoyed that. Brisket was very good. Nice crust, Smokey and tender. Baked beans were undercooked and a little crunchy. Would eat here again even with those minor things to give it another try.

I’ve eaten here about 6 or 7 times. The food is always amazing. Awesome flavor highly recommend. Chicken tacos are as amazing as they are different.
Wife and I sometimes split the pick 3 and have enough left overs for a full second meal.
As much as I am a flavor over quantity kind of guy the food tastes fantastic and the portions are more than generous.
Staff is always amazing too. You will not be disappointed.

First time here. Very good sized portions of food. I’d call it decent BBQ. Wouldn’t go out of my way for it, but it’ll satisfy your BBQ urge if local. Tried their 4 sauces (wish there were more options). If going with the Chipotle Maple sauce, shake it first or you’ll get no flavor. Nice big cornbread muffin. Had the pulled pork, pulled chicken, brisket. Good flavor with the right amount of smoke and fat. Nice casual atmosphere. I’d stop back if in the area.

I have never had a bad meal here. There sides are outstanding. I would highly recommend the Brisket Chili. Also there burgers are very tasty. Have used there carry out several times and every time our friends and family members have loved the food.
