Got the BBQ beef brisket plate with beans and slaw. The brisket was so good I ate it with no sauce! The folks there are very friendly and make sure you’re a satisfied customer.

I know this business is going under new ownership soon but I wanted to say that the staff here is the friendliest and the bbq here is the best. There are never any “chewy pieces” if you know what I mean and the service is fantastic. Ayana Gray at the window when I come through is always the friendliest and most helpful with any request. Even offering me a tea when it was going to take an additional 2 mins for my food!! (I would have waited 20)

Used to love this place. I went there all the time but moved up north. Came back 20 years later and the food is good but not great anymore. Doesn’t seem to be the same people so I am guessing that’s the issue.

If you like plain over charged nachos when you asked for bbq and hair in your food definitely the place to go. Also who puts freakin lettuce and avocados on bbq nachos

Today, my husband and i decided to try the hickory pit. We went in and asked about the faves and let them know it was our first time there. They were very enthusiastic about the faves. I was told the pulled sandwiches were what most people ordered so i ordered the beef with baked beans and coleslaw and my husband ordered the double burger. We later realized that the burger didnt come with anything. we also ordered pulled pork nachos since we wanted to try those too. the food came out quick but the beef was dry and and the slaw on top was drier. the sides were very lackluster with the coleslaw being warm. the nachos were nothing that you would ever think would come out with nachos. the pork was dry and crispy and the cheese was just melted shredded cheese that had all the chips stuck together. the barbecue sauce, if thats what you would call it was super watery and sweet. The only thing that i found to be any good was the tea. Was DEFINITELY not worth the over 30 DOLLARS that we paid. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND BYPASS THE PIT!!!

The outside of this place doesn’t look that good and the inside just looks alright. I think the look overall could use some work, food was great tho, it tasted good, at first I thought it was a little pricey when I saw how much food it was, but I guess when you add the desert it was worth it. So I guess overall it was good, although it could look a little better honestly.
