Stopped in for a quick bite while passing through Dexter and was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is cozy with low lighting, and the menu offers a solid selection of BBQ favorites. We tried the coleslaw, rib sandwich, and a rack of ribs with a salad — everything was tasty and satisfying. Great spot for a casual meal on the road. Would definitely come back if I’m in the area again.

Hickory Log in Dexter has went to shit!! Go in, 5 employees at front desk playing on phones, we ask for you have table for 5! They inform us they are working to clean tables off now. Never moving nor putting down phones…. One finally says there is an available table at a bar. So we go to bar and set at a table, after 35 minutes, one of us walk back to the front to see how long it would be before we were waited on. Same 5 employees still there playing on phones and they said we are trying. Needless to say we left and took our business elsewhere! This is unacceptable in any business that is paying you for time, that you can not get off the phone to take care of paying customers. This will also be posted as a review, to inform customers what to expect!

Very cozy environment with friendly staff to make you feel at home. Must say the Rib salad, mesquite chicken rolls, and sirloin were melt in your mouth delicious. Even though we went right at closing time we didn’t feel rushed and the food and service was still great. The Christmas decor is beautiful and great for family pictures.

Driving through, saw the decorations on the outside decided to stop. Excellent decor inside, service was excellent. Ribs were a little tough for me but given that we are in the south, it might be the way they are served here. The owner as friendly. Great to see the spirit of the season expressed in this way.

OK, I gave five stars on everything even though we’ve been here twice and only picked up to go. I have to admit I’d have to put up with some really terrible service to not want to come eat here. We travel through the country a lot and they’re smoking process has no rival. We always order 2 to 3 sides of ribs with the fixins and are never disappointed. We are heading back home to Maine however, you can be sure that the next time we travel through, we will make sure to pass through Dexter for some Hickory Log ribs.

We needed a place for lunch for a bus group traveling from Branson. Hickory Log was very accommodating, setting up a buffet for us that included ribs, beef, and grilled chicken. The group loved it and the service was excellent.

Waitress seemed to be more agitated we were there than anything. Meat tasted like it was a few days old and just reheated. All around just not very good, especially for the price. 5 of the tables were piled with dirty dishes and noone seemed to want to bus the tables as it was there when we got seated and still there when we left

Great atmosphere for family dining. Christmas decorations are amazing. We weren’t blown away by the ribs (the main ticket menu item they’re bragging about) as some so dry it was difficult to get off the bone. One (pictured) had obviously been on a warmer for a looong time and although it sounds really snooty to say, really not good enough to eat. That being said, some ribs were great and totally worth bragging about.
