Went with my daughter and a large group of friends and they were very accommodating. Had a great time, great food and prices. My daughter for the 1/2 Burger she couldn’t finish and I scarfed the small chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes (, both with delicious gravy) and fried okra. Was delicious and the ambiance old-timey. I felt overdressed but not bothered at all. Old country feel is like home to this old country road-girl.

This is a frequent office lunch spot for us since BBQ is a crowd pleaser. I like the chicken tender salad and the onion rings. Burger got a good review as well.

I came at lunch, I had no issues as the parking lot is large, service is fast and friendly. I got the brisket plate with beans and fries, it came out fast and hot. The brisket was very tender and had good flavor but was a little dry. The beans need some TLC, I dressed them up with some BBQ sauce and brisket pieces and they were better. The fries were perfect. Overall a good solid option for BBQ. Suggestions would be to spend some time dressing up the sides, add some scap brisket and a little sauce to the beans, maybe even put them in the smoker for a bit. Add a little mesquite wood to your smoker, Texas BBQ should at least have just a touch of mesquite. Just sayin.

Came here for dinner with the whole family to celebrate my grandfather’s birthday. He loved the live music entertainment. It was great to see him so happy enjoying the food and atmosphere. If you love southern comfort food you will definitely love it here. The chicken fried steak is crispy and huge! The tots were cheesy and delicious. We didn’t try the bbq but it certainly smelled good. Service was friendly. We enjoyed our evening here and they made my grandfather’s night, what more can you ask for.

Service is you order and pick your food up – so it got the 5 stars because everyone working the orders and cooks such were all really nice. It had been YEARS since my husband or myself had been there. Our youngest son had a house not too many miles away and had been there more recently than we had. Back in the day? There was 1 size chicken fried steak and it totally hung over the pizza pans they use as plates. They have different sizes. Hubby and son got the medium. I got fried chicken. Food is pretty much as delicious as it was 25 years ago. They seem to have kept their standards pretty high. It does have really great chicken fried steak! Mac n cheese is good too – made there.
The decor is country. Wood everywhere with old signs and things like an old typewriter, cash register etc. It’s an experience. Definitely a restaurant worth the traffic when you want good CFS or BBQ.
They had a few slices of pie available – didn’t check what kinds they were.

Absolutely nothing comes close to their onion rings. Why ? Because the onion rings are sliced thick, and the batter is the perfect accompaniment, and fried to perfection. If one needs more incentive to present, their pork ribs are unrivaled. They have found the formula for success, i.e., in random order, top notch food quality, top shelf customer service, and ideal price points. Everyone wins when presenting to this gem of a restaurant.

I visited this place during a work trip based on the shear number of reviews (over 4k at the time of this visit). I arrived between 6 and 630 on a Thursday. Right before the dinner crowd, apparently.
You order at the counter from the menu on the wall. So, if you don’t want to stand around, check out their website ahead of time.
I ordered the medium chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, corn, and soft drink. My total was $20.95.
First off, the steak was huge. I wish I would have opted for the small. I ate it all though, including the sides. I’m feeling it too.
The steak breading was crispy, although it (and the meat inside) seemed to lack seasoning. This was not an issue if you made sure to eat every bite with some of the gravy. Which was deliciously seasoned. So, the combo was nice, albeit necessary.
Sides were both good too. Nothing to write home about, but good.
Overall, the chicken fried steak was good, but not my favorite. I would definitely bring friends and family here, mostly just to see the look on the face of the person that ordered the large.
I’d recommend checking it out for yourself, of course.

The food was good- but it was the vibe of the building itself that made the experience neat! It has such a cool and interesting vibe and all for a reasonable price as well.

This place is a Houston legend. Known for their giant chicken fried steaks. The barbecue is average. Damn sure edible. Not the best you’ll get but not the most expensive either. If you are just looking to get some barbecue taste in your mouth then this place will do.
Here is a secret about this place. The ranch dressing is really good here.

You have to come here for the chicken friend steak, but unless you want one the size of a dinner plate, order the small. The medium is huge!
The atmosphere is the best country/western of any place I’ve been to and everyone is polite.
