Lovely new spot in St Anthony, went for their ribs combo which came with a side of coleslaw and fries, and definitely loved it. Food wait tomes were very short, which is also definitely another bonus for me. Would definitely be back to try other menu items.

I got the 3 meat combo (ribs, pork and brisket) and it’s tough to say which meat was worse.

The brisket was literally not edible, the fat wasn’t rendered at all, and it was impossible to even bite a piece off. At least 30 degrees undercooked.

The ribs were flavorless, gray and unseasoned. Speaking of which, this food definitely isn’t smoked, because there wasn’t a smoke ring on a single type of meat.

The pulled pork was at least edible, but had no depth of flavor, just tasted dirty.

Overall, the meat was the grayest, worst tasting BBQ I’ve ever had.

The Mac and cheese was basically stoufers, the beans and slaw were average.

The wings and fries were competent, so if someone holds you at gunpoint and forces you to eat here, order those.

But seriously, literally any other food would taste better, this place was terrible

Best wings in the twin cities. The only place I have had that compare with these is the Slick Pig in Tennessee. The buffalo sauce was great and the “hot sauce” bbq sauce was was even better.

Checked out Hickory Hog for a late lunch today. I got the mac and cheese bowl with brisket and my husband got the brisket sandwich with fries. Overall we were pretty impressed, with a few minor quibbles, but we thought the food was tasty and the prices were good. I thought the food was pretty solid, and I’m happy to have a decent BBQ joint 5 minutes away from our house!
We learned Hickory Hog serves St. Louis style BBQ, which focuses on grilled meats and uses a sweet rather than vinegary BBQ sauce. I thought my mac and cheese was pretty much perfect – the brisket had some nice chair on the edges and complimented the mac and cheese well. The mac and cheese was cheesy without being too saucy or gloppy. A+ in my book! I would go back just for that! The portion size was generous enough that I had leftovers for another meal.
The brisket sandwich was tasty, though the fries could use just a touch more seasoning. My husband got sweet tea, which we both thought tasted more like sugar than tea.
We had gone to that space a fair amount when it was a Smashburger, and Hickory Hog has put a nice mark on it while making smart reuse of the finishes and booths – there are now 4 tvs (three were turned to the football game and one was showing basketball when were were there). I’d definitely go there for food and to catch a Vikings game in the future. We were also happy to see that Hickory Hog has way more staff than Smashburger ever did – employees seemed to have good communication, food was brought out super fast, and tables were cleaned quickly. Every table was sparkling when we walked in.
They haven’t had their grand opening yet, and the menu is still in flux, so some of the food options may change in the future.
We will definitely be back to try more of the menu – we especially want to taste the onion rings, cheese curds, and pulled pork.

*****JUST ADD SEASONING *****

I discovered this place on door dash. I was a little worried at first because I was for sure that the good would be cold when it arrived giving the distance. It actually arrived hot.
I was really surprised at the amount of food given, my only disappointment is there is no other flavor other than smoke. If they add a little bit of salt everything will be so good. Otherwise it’s just ok.

I ordered take out and I expect the food to maybe not be so hot temperature wise but it was cold. The rib tips looked to be old and reheated and the pulled pork was dry and very bland. The coleslaw was basic.

I had their pulled pork sandwich with fries today for lunch. The pork was great and the fries were even better. Very nice staff and pleasant surroundings. Will eat here again!

Simple wings, not over powering just the right amount of flavor and they’re grilled not deep fried. I’m definitely coming back

Seriously. So. GOOD!! I know some have said it’s a bit pricey but….when you see the portion sizes and quality of the meat, you’re getting a well-priced meal. I got the 2 meat combo (brisket and ribs) with cole slaw and mac n cheese. The meat was so tender and there was a lot of it on the bone. The different BBQ sauces were so tasty too. My first time there and definitely will be going back. I have leftovers for tomorrow and already can’t wait! YUM!! Awesome, new BBQ place. Highly recommend!
