Today’s lunch was at Hickory Hog. First thing I noticed walking in was that it is not wheel chair accessible. We were promptly greeted by a kind young lady and seated.
After being seated it took less than a minute for our waitress to stop by. She promptly got our drink and food orders. We ordered the special birria tacos. Food was on the table in less than 10 minutes. I must say the tacos were amazing! I’d venture to say the best I’ve had.
Our waitress kept check on us. Kept our glasses full and had a smile the entire time.
I highly recommend that you try out Hickory Hog when you can.

Decided to check out this little town on our way from Florida and heading back to Kansas. Needed lunch after shopping at several stores. Great place!! Food was so good! I had the special of Birria tacos. So yummy with lots of tender brisket and cheese in crispy tortillas. Comes with extra sauce, but their sweet bbg sauce was so good I put that on them. Several bbq sauce choices including white bbq sauce, which I’ve never seen before. All were excellent and homemade. Wish I would have had room for one of their homemade sides or dessert. Friendly, quick service in addition to the food made this stop the best! I love this town!

Hidden gem of lucedale! Had a wonderful meal here! Only complaint is that there was too much food!! And our server fixed that easily with to go containers. Ordered the “little bit of everything”… yeah its a lot of everything! That dish will feed at least 4 people! The burnt ends were my favorite, followed by the pimento cheese dip.. the dip was smoky and savory! The boiled peanuts were a great addition as well. The sausage, and brisket were both top notch. My favorite thing about the place was the sauces. Not only were they very tasty… they were in 1 quart squeeze bottles at the table, so you could use as much or as little as you want. The white BBQ sauce was really good as well. The banana pudding is good if you have room.. (I didn’t) I’ll definitely be back!

No need to reapply any of your cologne or perfume, you will smell like you’ve been at a backyard bbq when you leave, which is nostalgic.
I bet the person running the smoker, is in cut off blue jean shorts, white sneakers, and an apron that says “Kiss the cook.”
Other restaurants around better step up their game. There is an abundance of food for the price, it tastes great and the service didn’t skip a beat. The loaded fries were a great choice with our meal. The queso compliments the other ingredients. The tacos were loaded down as well as the sandwiches. The bbq sauce was a smoky and tangy taste (not too sweet). The server was attentive and made sure the drinks were refilled and the table was pre bussed. That’s pretty rare to find these days. Pre bussing should be a standard (like it was 10 years ago) that all servers practice.

I don’t get the hype of this place honestly. The food was ok I guess. Honestly the only good thing we really ate was the mac n cheese. The brisket was very tender but flavorless. The ribs literally had very little meat.. I was very disappointed

Bridgette made simple syrup on the fly and prepared the best old fashioned along with a splash of liqeuer 43, I ordered it with Woodford reserve which is an amazing medium shelf liquor to have on hand for a bar in a small town in a dry county. Entire drink experience was 10/10. and I’m so excited I can drink good mixed drinks close to home. Perfect food and drink. P S. Try the blue steel if you like sours lucedale must try!

I visited this establishment the day before mother’s day with my family. The customer service was cool they were busy so they were moving but they were very attentive. I ended up receiving the ribs dinner with okra and Mac and cheese and I added a sausage link. So the ribs were ok, the Mac n cheese was good and my okra was. Now will I return? probably in the future. But if you’re in the area check this place out.

Great BBQ place. I ate there almost every day for two weeks. Tried the whole menu and then some. Staff was super friendly and polite. Pickled jalapenos are crazy hot, be careful of that. 10/10 can’t wait to eat there again.
