Called in to make a reservation for lunch on a Wednesday (for a Thursday lunch) for 7 people. To my surprise when we arrived to an empty restaurant, they didn’t have my reservation, and the gentleman at the front was seeming to get slightly agitated at me that it wasn’t there. When I confirmed the phone number he said “come on lets go sit.” We sat down, chef came out and threw the rice, along with veggies on the grill. Just after, the shrimp/salmon and raw chicken was placed on the grill. After putting the raw chicken that looked like it was quickly defrosted under water based on its high gloss, stuck together, slimy finish on the grill, the chef wiped the goo off of his spatula with his towel then began flipping us zucchini with the same spatula! The fried rice was very bland, the tea was terrible. Do not recommend going there at all. My stomach was rumbling like two cats were fighting in there when I left. Place went heavily downhill, and quickly!

The food is delicious and the staffs here are professional and friendly. They provide kid’s chopsticks for kids who are still learning how to use chopsticks or people who doesn’t know how to use it. The hibachi was so much fun. My kids had so much fun! We had a really great time!

When I first arrived, I was disappointed with a few things. I didn’t realize they didn’t serve all you can eat sushi on a weekday (that’s my own fault for not looking into what days which menus are available.

My friend and I ended up going for hibachi instead, we got a little bit more bad news, when they told us they weren’t offering hibachi tables at the moment. Half the fun of ordering hibachi, is watching them cook the food in front of you.

The food itself was very tasty, and cooked the way I ordered it. The waiter told us we couldn’t substitute the shrimp with tofu, which was a little disappointing

The prices were a little bit on the high side, but on par with fancier hibachi places that offer a hibachi table

Super friendly staff. Walked in with suspicious expectations but was blown away by hospitality and great service. Place is decorated in birthday pictures which provide an assurance that it’s definitely a place to eat at. Hibachi service was everything we could ask for. We will definitely be going back! Thank you Jackie for being our chef for the night. We both cleaned our plates!

One of my favorite places to go out to eat on Friday. Louie, Jess, and Aimee always take great care of me. I get my hot almond sake, Robert roll, and boneless spare ribs appetizer. I love it, literally have the best food and customer service. Highly recommend them, treat them good and tip them right

Super friendly service — we got the nicest guy as our server. The food was delicious. I had the chicken gyoza, the scallop handroll and the spicy tuna rice bowl and it was all so delicious, out of this world 10/10 experience

Delish lunch specials. Andy roll is dah bomb!!! Crunchy, sweet, and a tang of spice. Cant go wrong with the yakisoba lunch special. The other roll was something stuffed inside a squid tentacle. Interesting for the ascetics, but not quite as tasty. This is one of our regular sushi spots and worth the drive from Northwell homebase. Thank you Sushi Ya!!!

I haven’t been here in over 10 years. My last visit all food was severely over cooked, way too salty and greasy. Staff was hostile towards customers. My next visit for Hibachi here will be … never! I may return for Sushi as I did order a roll which wasn’t bad, but certainly not worth $18 for Salmon Maki with some caviar on top.

First this is Long Island, ALL places have refills on drinks. Sushi ya does not. They do not offer you water and it seems as if the wait staff wants you to wait on them rather than them waiting on you. 20 minutes, my glass was empty, no one asked. Didn’t even offer me water. I asked for water and then changed my mind for water for my whole party. They were displeased. I rattled the mighty cage of the YA!

Ok so aside from an overpriced average roll that I can get better at a supermarket, AND the crabiness of the staff that would make Mr. Krab look benevolent, let’s move on to the Hibachi.

Now just to be clear, yes I am about to nit pick! The proteins were cooked first. And I do mean first and only on the grill. We say there for 15 minutes with the proteins getting cold hoping that the laws of physics somewhere worked differently on this magical grill. Well, they did not. So our medium-rare 4 oz filet minion (right, they should simply say chuck and not-chuck) ended up soaking all the 1/4 cup of extra dark soy sauce used as seasoning and became dry, salty and tough as leather. Oh and the shrimp were obliterated! Shells still partially attached too! BONUS!

Of the proteins, the chicken was put on at the same time as all other proteins however it does take the longest. as such, the cook did NOT overcook it and strangely enough it was the only protein properly cooked. The chicken by the way, was still being cooked even after the noodles and rice was finished!

I don’t understand the obsession with Hibachi places and their need to over salt and use so much oil! Soy sauce is not hibachi! A mix of soy and Teriyaki OR just Teriyaki, even watered down, is just fine! I don’t understand their need to substitute flavor with over salt.

So the other sidde of the restaurant is Sushi and the customers ALL seemed much happier there. NO ONE on the Hubachi sude ate more than 50% of their food. The soy sauce, oil and salt probably got to us all! The other side seemed like the happy place to be. Honestly, don’t offer a cuisine because it earns. Don’t offer a cuisine because you’re already retrofitted for it. Offer it because you care enough to provide the service you are offering!

Honestly I do believe the owners and staff are city folk who see their primary clientelle is white and are assuming what suburban white folk want. I don’t even want to go into why this is my believe. Let”s just say I’ve seen it quite often and it stands true in almost every case.

I am not going to apologize for this horrible review so long as Sushu Ya feels that this continuation of horrible food and service can continue yet another decade! 10 years agoI wasn’t able to leave any reviews. Now, I want this review to reflect their business and hopefully they will understand that over priced hibachi while destroying the food, NOT EVEN COMING BY TO CHECK ON CUSTOMERS to see if everything is okay, simply ignoring customers and charging $40 for over salted, over cooked food, it’s NOT acceptable.

Please people, don’t attack me for speaking the truth. Don’t attack me because “oh that’s the only sushi restaurant in the neighborhood, I can’t believe this reviewer!”

Come on people demand better food, demand better service! We work hard for our money. McDonalds sadly is better quality than this (not really but you get the point).
