This place is SUPER prejudice! They sat two white couples by themselves and us with another white family of four even though we arrived 20 minutes prior to the family they sat with us. We waited an hour in total for their orders to be taken, them to finish their salads and our food to be served. The chef gave us smaller food portions. Our drink was made with the wrong ingredients and the waiter acted like he didn’t know what we were saying when we said it wasn’t made right! I had to take my own drink back to the bar and found out the cream was not plain it was pumpkin spice which is why it didn’t taste correct. Finally even though we stated in the beginning of the dinner it was my son’s birthday they only sang happy birthday to the girl at the table presenting her with an ice cream sundae. They had the nerve to add gratuity to our check for the WORST dining experience dining ever and I wouldnt send my worst enemy here! I won’t be back!

We always have fun when we eat here. The chefs doing the hibachi cooking are very entertaining and put on a great show while actually looking our dinner in front of us! I had the teriyaki chicken & salmon combo, which also came with a salad and fried rice. I love the little fire volcano the chef makes by stacking onions, adding a bunch of cooking oil, and then lighting it up! And what the chef was doing was hilarious when chucking pieces of shrimp or chicken into the mouths of waiting patrons!

We chose a Japanese restaurant because we wanted to experience a part of Japanese culture. Instead, this place is owned and operated by… non Japanese folks. Imagine going to a German restaurant and it is owned and operated by Maori or going to a soul food restaurant and it’s owned and operated by Swedes or going to an Indian restaurant and it is owned and operated by Mexicans… It’s like false advertising or bait-n-switch.

Anyway, the place is super run-down, old, tired, disgusting. Carpet in a restaurant is just a bad idea unless you are going to replace it every 1-2 years. This hasn’t been replaced since probably the 1970s or whenever it was first built. We had a party of 8, there was only 2 other parties in the entire place because it was Super Bowl Sunday (ghost town), yet they made us wait for the two people who were parking the car because it was -10° outside.

The food was mediocre at best and definitely overpriced. You can expect a 20% “gratuity” added to your bill for a party of 8 or more, even though the meal is cooked and prepared 4 feet away from you; i.e. there really isn’t much more “service” beyond what should be included in paying $40 for $10 worth of food.

The place needs to be gutted and renovated to bring it up to date and in line with Department of Health standards.

We won’t be back. The Hibachi in Parkesburg is better, even if it is owned and operated by non Japanese folks also.

We came here as a BIG group for birthday party on Saturday evening, made reservation weeks in advance. While the food and show was good, service seemed to be disorganized and unprepared.

Restaurant: 3/5
Service: 2/5
Food: 3/5
Parking: Free parking lot

~Restaurant~
The restaurant at first glance is very big. There are large number of hibachi tables and sections of non-hibachi tables. Restaurant has some very unique decors.

~Service~
As soon as we walked in, we saw a couple yelling at the hostess about how unacceptably slow it was, because another couple apparently arrived later but got seated before them. We thought “Uh oh…” Everyone was crowded between hostess stand and the bar, waiting to be seated. There definitely seemed to be miscommunication issue, and Management was nowhere to be found. Our reservation was for 7PM, but we did not get seated until after 8:30PM.

Even after we sat down, and food ordered. There was no questions on what drinks we wanted or if we needed any water. Most of us ended up having to ask for water midway through our meals.

~Food~
We all ordered Hibachi combos (Chicken, Steak, Seafood..etc) All Hibachi items comes with Rice (White rice or fried rice) and Mixed Vegetables. Cooking presentation was great, our Chef was personable and playful. Proteins and Vegetables were cooked nicely, however the fried rice was very under seasoned.

In conclusion, much like any Hibachi dinner I’ve been to. Food is mostly average, the main attraction is always the Cooking show happening right in front of you. It is great to bring anyone who has not been to a Hibachi and watch their reaction for the first time and wow them. But this experience as a whole however was less than ideal.

Went here with friends later in the evening on a weekend night. There was little wait when we went. The chef was very entertaining, could read the room well, and made a lot of humorous jokes! The chef would throw shrimp in people’s mouths and he used broccoli for the vegetarian. The food tasted good, better with the sauces, and the entertainment provided by the chef made it very much worth it

Really great chefs at this teppanyaki restaurant!! I really love the decor around the teppanyaki areas and theres even a tatami room for private seatings! I really love the koi pond especially in the lobby, and there’s also tables and a bar for you to wait for your teppanyaki table! All the materials used in this building look high quality and the fact there is many koi fish in the pond really adds to the ambiance! I really liked the fact you can order noodles too for a extra charge. The veggies they cook are really good too and of course they use butter to cook everything! I also loved their sushis too, well except the tempura roll… Service was also friendly and quick! And seems like they have very experienced chefs here working here for over 20+ years! Overall I’d like to come back to try more of their other teppanyaki options!

Many years have passed since my last visit, but the restaurant still looks clean and modern. Kids enjoy watching coy swim in the lobby area around a pretty fountain. Their bar makes excellent drinks and the staff is super friendly and professional. You might end up with another party in the rooms food is prepared, but there’s plenty of room. Food is made by chefs right in front of you. It’s quite a show. The food is excellent. People can get loud when the chef tries to pitch a piece of meat in your mouth, so if you want a quiet dining experience, choose another restaurant. Definitely worth going.

Overall a good restaurant. Having a meal at a Teppanyaki table is one of a kind experience. Going in a small group can be challenging. We were three of us, so we had to wait for a while to get a table. We had to wait at least 45 mins before getting our salad food served. They do cater well to vegetarians. They prepare the vegetarian meal before cooking any of the meat. Few feedback
1. For vegetarians they have Tofu as the protein. However, we were charged extra for that, while others with meat did not.
2. Tofu was already pre-cooked, which is not a bad thing. However, the food that was served was a softer tofu, so it fell apart. My recommendation would be to serve extra firm tofu. This might not be in line with Japanese cuisine, but that is just easier to serve.
3. I noticed that there was baby corn as part of the vegetables which is great to see. However, the baby corn was canned baby corn. This restaurant sits across one of the largest grocery stores that carry fresh baby corn. My recommendation would be to start using fresh baby corns.
4. Tossing food to the mouth of the guest is one kind experience and it’s a fun one. However, that is only reserved for the meat eaters as this entertainment is provided at the end of the cooking. I had a little child with me, and she felt left out of experience.
5. The vegetables that served were well prepared, however, but could have used little extra sauce. We observed that the vegetables served to the meat eaters were well cooked and had a lot of sauce.
6. Looks like the restaurant was a little understaffed. There was one server who was running around like crazy for all the tables. I felt a little bad for them and it also degraded the service level that I’m sure they would have liked to maintain as an individual.

Overall, this was a good experience, but with room for improvements.

Ordered a miso and chicken teriyaki, because how could you go wrong with the most basic thing on the menu? Teriyaki came out fairly quickly, though it was barely warm so I asked if they could reheat it for me, which they did I’m assuming on the microwave since the plate looked exactly the same. The chicken was bland and dry, just tasted like they just lightly tossed the chicken in sauce after cooking. The staff was friendly so wouldn’t blame it on any of the servers, but the food was a disappointment for how expensive it is. When the plate is hotter than the food on top of it, why even serve it?

Oh wow! I didn’t know what to expect but I was so pleasantly surprised. I did AYCE, and it didn’t disappoint, quite the contrary. Everything was so fresh and tasty. I am glad I discovered this place as a new destination for me.
Ond of the best egg rolls I’ve ever had, perfectly balanced, you can see the filling and taste it. ❤️
There are two sides, I guess you must make it clear if you will do AYCE all you can eat sushi and more. Otherwise, the other side (really nicer one if you ask me is for a la carte restaurant).
But my experience was amazing; food and service were superb, albeit very quiet, but I didn’t mind. they actually preferred to enjoy each sushi bite.
There is plenty off street parking and an easy Downingtown location.
