This is not a bad review. I was looking for a quick hibachi fix and I came across this place. The food was average, order to go spot right in the heart of VCU. I ordered steak and added chicken. We’ll, their steak is more of steak n gravy and not hibachi style. ♀️ That’s pretty much all I have time say about it.

I’m not gonna lie…. We found this place using google maps trying to find somewhere on the way back to my sisters. Not being from the area, it was quite the experience and a little scary. One minute we’re going by all these college buildings, and the next we’re turning down the street where the restaurant is having people knocking on our windows. We didn’t realize whatsoever this was sort of a downtown area.
Parking is very challenging, and honestly with everything going on around us, I gave up because I couldn’t figure out for the life of me which park pay app to use. We learned quick there is only take out as an option anyway.
Ordering was super easy and done on a computer touch screen. I got the chicken hibachi and added a shrimp side as they didn’t do combos of multiple options. The meal came with fried rice and noodles, veggies, and your protein. That totally went over my head not being familiar with what the meal looked like, but I really loved the noodles. The food was good, but overall had a lot of black pepper. There was also a lot of sauce on the food. Maybe teriyaki. We didn’t expect that. I would recommend that being stated somewhere. My husband is a type 1 diabetic and wouldn’t have been able to eat that with the amount of sugar in that sauce plus the carbs! You’re able to pick two sauces to go with your meal. The yum yum sauce is a pinkish color which really threw us off! We also got ginger.

If zero stars was an option, it would have been selected. Just moved here to RVA from NC. Worst Japanese food. No flavor besides pepper to the teriyaki sauce. Noodles were linguini. The “yum yum” sauce was neon pink almost like the viral pink sauce. Rice? Bad. There is 100% a reason there is no seating option. Refunds would be pouring in.

went here out of nostalgia- as it used to be my favorite hibachi spot in college- but sadly disappointed. the food was totally different- noodles were different than before and had no flavor. we asked for sauces but didnt get any of them. we both threw up after eating- me last night and him this morning. and there is no place for me to contact the business and let them know. used to be the best spot around for hibachi! service was good though!

I don’t know what I expected, but was super happy about fast and easy pickup; got the steak hibachi and was not disappointed!! The sauce is delicious, steak was tender + didn’t have those hard gristle bits…The fried rice was seasoned well and not dry. The girl at the counter was super nice too! All around awesome late spot.

The portions at Hibachi Box are quite generous! I’m glad they give you the option of both rice and noodles in your platter. Usually at other restaurants I would want a little of both, but have pay extra. The Shrimp and steak are cooked well and are tasty for a quick bite to eat. I’m not a fan of the ginger dressing for the salad, but it’s okay. Not sure what’s missing in it. All that being said, it’s a great place to eat and I will be here again.

Great restaurant overall. The food was absolutely phenomenal and they give you so much food for the price. The average meal is about $10. Minus one star because the tables were not cleaned. Nothing against the food. I’m definitely coming back.

Hibachi Box is always my go-to I eat this at least two times a week! Proportion sizes are huge, the price is not bad per size. 2 people could eat one box. Its even good door dashed! There’s nowhere to eat inside the restaurant, so it’s really only a takeout place but it’s definitely in the top three takeout spots here in Richmond.

I ordered extra steak but it seems that the beef had gotten thinner. It used to be ribeyes steak that were used. Has there been a change in ownership? I remember 7 years ago it used to be thicker steak :(* added a second from the website- it definitely has changed!
