I ordered pho for our kids and the Cao Lau Noodles for me and my husband.
I don’t know how the pho was, but the Cao Lau Noodles were delicious. Please note it was my first time having it, so I have nothing to compare it to. It was also my first time seeing a Vietnamese Restaurant serving it. It was very flavorful with the sauce, which reminded me of a cross of cha siu sauce and Chinese BBQ sauce. I liked the texture of the noodles as well. Everything came together certainly well. I took a picture of the takeout after I had disassembled it. I did, try to put it together as best I could.
My only one suggestion would be to use takeout bowls for soupy meals as it’s hard to eat out of in a square one, especially when we were not heading home.
They have only been open for a month and a half took over ownership from another owner who closed down during covid. I was recommended to go buy a friend in Seattle and I am certainly glad that I did!
I have the tempura shrimp with the special sauce and I added the hoisin sauce as well as chili sauce to spice it up a little bit with some pepper and it was amazing!
The care and service that they provide in their restaurant, to keep it affordable for customers yet cozy, is a highlighted point for me to return back in the future!
I was informed as well that they have their first location in Federal Way so I am excited to try their Vietnamese sandwich there!
Please if you’re in the Renton area please visit this restaurant you will not be disappointed!
Come support this family-owned business, because they have the right focus for longevity of their business! Keeping prices affordable and yet providing excellent customer service with quality food is traditional values!
Thank you!
Edit after speaking to the owner:
The phone call was shocking. I was met with hostility, denial, defensiveness, & zero empathy. I wasn’t even asking for a refund — just concern for customer safety. Instead, the owner kept insisting it wasn’t glass, made excuses, hid behind the health inspection, showed no interest in investigating how this happened. I even asked: If they believe it wasn’t their kitchen, why aren’t they concerned about DoorDash, who delivered the food? Again, total deflection. The owner hung up on me — after announcing he was about to — which was the only polite thing he did.
Bottom line:
If anything serious happens with your order, don’t expect responsibility, empathy, or professionalism. The owner went straight into denial instead of showing basic human care about a potential safety issue. I would not order from this place again.
new edit: in response to owners new comment. I asked them if they’d like to examine the glass for themselves in a retort to the ridiculousness of suggestion to show me their kitchen on a special tour; of which I am certain food & safety would love. I’m not an expert to personally investigate. ‘To even suggest it’ is some testament to one’s absolution from accountability boggles the logical mind. However, that doesn’t prove anything, the glass can come from anything at that time, even those handling the food if said account is remotely true; that there is ‘no glass’ anywhere in a functioning restaurant kitchen!!! “Apparently glass does not exist in any restaurant…” Stating you had the health department ‘just’ do an inspection of the kitchen invalidates what happened to me is fascinating. I’ll let this entire new message from the owner speak for itself to anyone with comprehension skills & common sense. Experience something so scary, to only be met with this level of defensiveness; does say a lot of one’s character/ conscience. I wanted understanding, empathy, humanity, investigation, validation, a professional adult with customer care etiquette. I’m not here to “TAKE THIS RESTERAUNT DOWN” I’m being honest. I would be remised to remain silent. I would be complicit if this happened to someone else. A customer found glass, this is not open to debate or argument nor in a review to said customer who is still concerned/ in shock from experience. I don’t believe this person wants to endanger their costumers. They are defending their restaurant. But… please, in the future, learn customer service/ empathy. This is not how you lead a customer through something as serious as finding glass in their food. This is how you destroy everything you built. Thank you for corroborating most of my account of my experience on the phone with you.
One thing I noticed was that service was a bit slow, likely because there were only two people running the restaurant during a seated dinner service. Given that, I’d highly recommend streamlining the menu—removing some variations of similar dishes and specialty drinks could help with efficiency. A focused menu of 10-15 items for the first couple of months would reduce inventory costs and speed up order fulfillment. Then, as things settle, new items could be added or rotated in.
Excited to see how this place evolves. Definitely worth checking out!
I asked for hot tea and it came in… a glass. I couldn’t even hold it because it was too hot.
Never given napkins, dead mosquito right next to my elbow on the window sill. Creepy crawler cruising by me (I care about this less because spiders are everywhere indoors this time of year).
I can’t even remember what the food tasted like since this was a few weeks ago, but I think it was all right.
