Omg this place keeps getting better. #Josh is an amazing chef. From the burgers to the deep fried pickles. Amazing. The wings mixed with bbq and buffalo sauce are so so good. But again to the deep fried pickles. ( my opinion with whiskey ). Are just majestic.

It is a cool dive bar, located on the border of Claremont and Pomona. The bartenders and kitchen staff are friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Furthermore, the ambiance, for a dive bar, are usually keeping to themselves, and are quite friendly. At the same time, the wait time for meals or drinks are not long. Nevertheless, the menu varies, depending on who is working in the kitchen. At the same time, the jukebox sound is quite loud, and sometimes, you have to shout just to get the order right. Still, they have pool tables and darts. As a result, I am giving this establishment a four star rating. It is a good place, though, to spend time!

This weekend, I finally stopped at a dive bar I’ve been curious about for ages—Hi-Brow, tucked along historic Route 66 (Foothill Blvd) in Pomona. Its vintage signage has always caught my eye, sparking the historian in me every time I passed by.

Pomona often gets a bad rap due to its economic challenges, but I see something different. This city has grit, heart, and real potential. Despite tough times, it’s holding on—and I believe it can do even better.

Now, let me tell you about Hi-Brow. The vibe? Pure warmth. The bartender—a lovely woman—welcomed me like I was family, like chatting with your favorite Auntie. The locals at the bar were just as genuine: hardworking, down-to-earth folks enjoying a cold beer and good company. Salt-of-the-earth people, living life with honesty and heart.

I’ll definitely be back. It’s not just a bar—it’s a little pocket of community, and it felt like home.

Good beer selection. Everyone was super friendly. They played music from hard rock, rap, hip hop, and more. I will come back to drink again.
Games: One pool table and 2 dart boards.

Great little dive bar. This visit only stopped for a quick beer. Since Covid added an enclosed patio! Always fun!

Well.. Friar Tuck’s was my #1 Pomona bar.. now that it’s no longer accessible… my #2, became my #1. They do have great bartenders, don’t get me wrong, it’s just the dive is so much deeper than I prefer. There’s not a lot of light or room inside. There’s 1 (I believe) pool table.. there is an outside patio you can smoke in.. I do appreciate that.. Anyway, it’s alright if you just feel like giving away your money to drink in public

It is a cool dive bar! I have been here many times. The bartenders are really friendly and welcoming. Especially, Kari, Amber, Caitlin, Steve, and Kenny. They have a good selection of drinks. In addition, those drinks are fairly priced. The patrons, usually, keep it to themselves. In addition, they serve food. However, meals depend on who is working in the kitchen. They do not have a fixed menu. Nevertheless, the prices for food were quite fair, during my visits. So definitely, if anyone is in the border of Pomona and Claremont, I would recommend a visit to this bar!

Just your average dive bar but they’ve made quite a few updates. New floors, stools, patio furniture, food items. Not many drink specials that I know of. Or food specials. Happy hour is not posted but I believe there is a discount before 6 or 7 pm. I continue to go here so I clearly I like it.

Well as a seasoned veteran of countless dive bars in my lifetime, this is a good one. Several reasons. The entry is secluded behind a large wooden fence. Which also serves as the outside smoking area. Ample seating. You can take your beverage outside and enjoy comfortably. The place pours a strong drink at a reasonable price. They serve limited but not expensive and tasty food. The jukebox has unlimited choses with a nice speaker system. Lastly the regulars are friendly and unpretentious. If your in the area and want a very chill spot, give it a try. Shouldn’t disappoint.
