An old fashioned family owned burger joint serving the residents of Independence since the late 1950’s. The fast service is almost as impressive as their longevity and food is also really tasty. The princess and I both had the single 1/4 pound hi-boy burger and split an order of french fries. The food was served hot , fresh and really fast. Plenty of off street parking. Order at the counter , no drive through and no delivery. Take it with you or eat in your car as I didn’t see any tables. A few hours later we came back for a twist cone. The Princess loves a nice chocolate and vanilla twist cone and they have them here!

The hamburger was pretty good. The fried mushrooms were a hit for my girls. Price was decent too. Most likely a one and done for me but that doesn’t change the fact that their staff was great and very friendly.

Hi-Boy has daily specials that consist of discounts/free based on purchase of certain sides with sandwhich entree. This particular Tuesday was their 1/4 cheeseburger which included any size free drink with purchase of regular side. I purchased fries and with my cheese burger and added miracle whip with tomatoes, lettuce and ketchup. You can add a variety of condiments, of your choosing. Service from time of order to pickup was about 8 minutes with 3 other people after me. You can eat in the parking lot and there is no dine-in, this is more of a bigger than most hamburger joint, but with decent room for 10-12 people to order from inside at 1 of 2 registers.

Got a “hot fudge sundae”, but that definitely wasn’t ice cream. It turned to a weird watery consistency almost instantly, & didn’t taste like or have the texture of ice cream at all. The “hot fudge” also didn’t taste right or have the right consistency (it was hot tho, I’ll give them that). Definitely don’t recommend getting ice cream here.

We showed up 3 minutes before closing, the front is all glass and open. The multiple employees welcomed up with smiles and gladly took and prepared our order. The burgers, fries, and tots were hot and yummy. All three kids, and me, want to return. The kids really liked the shakes. Sometimes, at fast food, it seems like employees treat you as a burden just before closing, not here! It was a great experience.

Food was delicious (especially the fries & tots). I had a bad reaction to the milkshake so if you have any dairy complications I would avoid it. It is a DRIVE in, there is no seating. This would a five star but their prices are almost ridiculous. Would love to go there regularly, but can’t afford over $30 for two people.

Great little place for a quick bite! Their Tenderloins & Italian sandwiches remind me of old Texas Tom’s! Food is cooked to order, so expect a little wait. Onion rings & tater tots are crunchy & delicious, nice size portions! Breaded mushrooms aren’t too bad either! Carry out only, no curb service or dine-in. Plenty of parking space, for tractor trailers too! Prompt courteous service!

A bit pricey and the patties definitely getting smaller than I remember as a kid but still hiboy burger is one of the best in town but have to get double to taste meat..onion rings and shakes are good.. it’s nice to see some small mom and pop fast food chains still around along with some of there employees.
