Reviews
H&H has both. Limited menu but great quality from what’s offered.
I would definitely recommend trying them out for breakfast or lunch. They have amazing fried chicken and still offer other great favorites like the meat loaf and chicken and dumplings. If you’re in the mood for a good southern meal or just want to stop in for the nostalgia, don’t hesitate.
I went with the beef brisket. Flavorful, yes—but a bit dry and overcooked. The mac was fine, nothing life‑changing. The real standout? That cornbread muffin. Light, fluffy, and genuinely delicious. If everything else matched that muffin, this would be a different review.
H&H Soul Food has potential—I just think I ordered the wrong thing this time around.
In all seriousness, the food was amazing. One of those meals that you need occasionally. Seasoned perfectly, good-sized portions, all-around good stuff. The history ” Thanks for the beans and things” is super cool.
The price is right
No complaints here. I’ll be back soon!
Monday Morning and I had to get an early start. I had tons of appointments scheduled all over Macon. When my first appointment ended, I unexpectedly had some time to kill and what better way to kill time other than to find a breakfast spot!
And then I remembered, H & H Soul Food has been on my radar for a while! What better way to spend a portion of my morning!
When I walked in, the first thing I thought to myself was, oh, this isn’t “a” joint, this is “the” joint.
I was quickly taken to my table and handed the menu. Breakfast is served Monday to Friday only from 7AM to 11AM. Lunch is served from 11AM to 3PM and they’re also open for brunch on the weekend.
So, let’s eat!
What I Ordered:
Just a quick note here… it took less than 2 minutes from the time I placed my order until I got my plate. They’re impressively fast. I have literally waited longer at a fast food restaurant. So if you’re in a hurry, this is an outstanding solution.
Biscuits and Gravy with a side of Bacon and 2 Scrambled Eggs = $15.00
The biscuits are the star here. They’re crispy on the outside and perfectly textured on the inside. Not too dense, not too flaky. The bacon was crispy perfection and the eggs were delicious.
The gravy on the menu says it is served with a sausage gravy but it’s actually their peppermill gravy with some sausage cut up on top of the biscuit then they pour the peppermill gravy on top. So it’s not really sausage gravy but in essence, it tasted pretty good. Though I have to admit, there’s nothing like a real sausage gravy.
Overall, I really enjoyed my breakfast. I “people” watched and saw many folks picking up “to go” orders, a group celebrating a birthday breakfast and quite a few people walked in coming from a 3rd shift of work.
H & H Soul Food is located at 807 Forsyth Street and they have free parking in their parking lot.
Where should I go next?
We were in town for an Allman Brothers Band pilgrimage, this cafe fits the bill as the band ate here often and the walls are decorated with ABB photos and posters.
Thanks for the great time!
