The food overall was very good but we weren’t as “wowed” as we thought we’d be for a Michelin experience. Stand outs were the foie gras terrine, maitake mushrooms, and wagyu zabuton. We wouldn’t order the beef tartare again; while execution and balance were there, some dishes like a tartare are perfect in their simplicity. If we went again we’d probably try the tasting menu as opposed to doing à la carte.
From the warm welcome to the last bite of dessert, every detail was spot on.
The host and our servers were fantastic and quite honestly, they were THE BEST — very friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, with a classy touch of humor!
The food was incredible: beautifully presented, creative, and full of flavor. You can tell there’s real passion in the kitchen. We even got to meet the chef, and had photos with the staff, which made the night extra special.
Everything about the evening exceeded our expectations — it was the perfect place to celebrate our 11th year Wedding Anniversary!
A HUGE thank you to the whole Hexagon team for making it such a memorable night! The food was delicious, but the service and the people is what really made it all so memorable!
Food was outstanding, service was attentive and cocktails were amazing. Would recommend the tasting menu, but looking forward to having their regular dinner experience!
Compliments to the team for offering a free glass of sparkling wine to congratulate myself and my wife on our wedding. Unexpected surprise that was much appreciated!
Service did not match quality of the cooking, but it wasn’t terrible. Little things like having to ask for things more than once.
Servers were polite, but lacked enthusiasm for the food.
Chef went to every other table except ours. He even poured water for them. That would have been nice if he made it to our table. Maybe he was just busy.
Overall I would recommend trying Hexagon and I would go back to see if the experience improves.
Food was great. Perfectly portioned, delicious, and amazing presentation.
Service stunk. Our waitress obviously didn’t want to be there. Don’t bump into me multiple times, don’t reach over me, go on the other side. Don’t take too long to bring out that extra cocktail – we’re missing the moment. Don’t be unhelpful with suggestions, and uninterested. The bussing was great, the team of people were fun, enjoyable, and helpful, which made up for our terrible server. Very nice mexican girl who I could only assume was from Mexico City, as she started discussing about Pujol with us. Another nice guy discussing experiences with Quetzal and The Pine. Those kids get it. Unfortunately, our server didn’t.
Atmosphere was meh. No host when we walked in. Area on the right looks like it’s become storage. Restaurant is small and surprisingly average looking. Kind of like home sense or ikea styled it.
Also, for some stupid reason, we had a TON of fruit flies during the meal around our table. Even ruined my last glass of wine.
Expected more for the Michelin Star, especially since we’ve had such great experiences with others. Give it a whirl, I think this is the first time I would say I have no intention of going back to a Michelin Star restaurant ♂️
We encountered a few minor service errors. We had requested the beet dish, which was misheard as beef, resulting in us receiving the beef tartare instead. It was promptly corrected, so no issue there. However, we did not receive the sourdough that was meant to accompany the carpaccio, nor was it offered even after I mentioned it. I eventually asked if we could have it on the side to use with another dish.
That said, our server was kind and knowledgeable, and several dishes truly stood out. Our favourites were the Agnolotti, Wagyu Zabuton, and BC Black Cod — all deserving of their praise. The carpaccio was delightful as well, though I would have loved to enjoy it with its intended accompaniments.
One final note was being told the beef tartare would be removed from our bill — which we assumed would be the case, as it had not been ordered. A slightly strange detail, but not a major concern.
Despite the number of dishes we ordered, I did leave feeling somewhat unsatisfied in terms of portion size and actually stopped at another bar afterwards (although my partner was satiated) for food.
I would recommend Hexagon for anniversaries or special occasions. While I’m unsure if we will return, it was a good experience overall!
1. I gave the food category a 3 star because I’ll be honest it was not the tastiest michelin starred food I’ve had. One of the “snack items” I can’t remember the name but it had such a strong mayonnaise and egg taste it was not a delightful bite… this other snack item honestly just tasted like a vietnamese fresh roll without the peanut butter sauce. The fish used in the hirame ceviche was difficult to cut and even biting it with my teeth was difficult. One other thing I wasn’t particularly thrilled with was that they served duck twice. They served Duck Pibil with the Nixtamal and then they served duck again with the Aged Duck course. It would be better if various forms of protein were served in my opinion. The plating style however was beautiful and the plates chosen were all unique and eye pleasing. The Hokkaido Scallop was the most delicious course overall, absolutely amazing! The Black Cod was cooked absolutely perfectly and it melted in my mouth. The A3 Wagyu was tastey but didn’t stand out to me and I disliked the creamed spinach on the side but that might just be my own taste buds. I also was excited because online the website menu said it would be A5 wagyu and when I asked the server for clarification she stated it was A5 however the handout given to me at the end stated it was A3 wagyu. The main dessert SK Wild Rice was phenomenal, I enjoyed every bite. The tiny chocolate dessert was also delicious and the sorbert as well. The little pumpkin/squash pie had too strong a seasoning and was almost a bit spicy which I did not prefer.
2. Now I want to discuss service. I’ll be honest and say the organization of the restaurant seemed a bit hectic. It seemed like all the staff were all over the place. It was so loud in the restaurant I struggled to hear our server. When the chef’s or servers would present and explain each dish it was also difficult to hear what they were saying. The tables were quite dark so whenever the server would come around to wipe the table they would miss spots. They changed cutlery between each course and had a long chopstick like stand to lean the cutlery on which I very much liked. I dislike when my cutlery touches the table so I want to say this was a great detail they added to the dining experience. Our server however was very nice and she refilled our water glasses multiple times.
3. Atmosphere. I’m the type of person that prefers a quieter atomosphere but there is nothing wrong with a louder one as well if that if your prefference. I personally didn’t like how it was so loud I needed to move closer to my mother to have a conversation and how I couldn’t properly hear the course explainations. One other thing I want to mention is the bathroom. Soap was dripping from the top of it and leaking out onto the counter, at a michelin star restaurant I personally expect it to be very cleanly. One last thing I want to mention that I disliked was when I was leaving the restaurant I wanted to ask a question to one of the staff members but they didn’t address me right away. Another staff member then walked infront of me and turned his back to me to speak with the other individual for a good 10 seconds before addressing me. I found that to be very rude and unprofessional. Having worked in the hospitality business all staff members should address customers the moment they make it clear they require assistance.
I spent over $500 for this experience and this restaurant was awarded a michelin star in both 2024 and 2025. My opinions are based off of my personal experience at this restaurant and in comparison to other michelin star restaurants I have eaten at prior to Hexagon.
Our server, Fernando, deserves the highest commendation. He was not only professional and genuinely friendly, but also demonstrated a level of attentiveness and care that is exceptionally rare in the service industry. His thoughtful recommendations elevated our dining experience, and his diligence in accommodating my husband’s tree-nut allergy immediately put us at ease. To top it all off, Fernando surprised us with complimentary sparkling wine to congratulate us on our anniversary — an incredibly thoughtful gesture that made the evening feel even more special. What truly impressed us was Fernando’s initiative in going above and beyond — making a short trip to the restaurant next door to bring back my requested cappuccino and an espresso for my husband. To call this “great customer service” would be an understatement; it was truly outstanding.
The food was a revelation — each dish a masterpiece of flavour, presentation, and innovation. We started with the Vuelve a la Vida, Heirloom Tomatoes and Pain au Lait. Then, for mains, we had the SRF Wagyu Zabuton and Canadian Prime Striploin. For dessert, we indulged in the Peaches and Corn and the Bunuelo. The atmosphere was elegant yet warm, perfectly complementing the elevated dining experience. Hexagon has mastered the art of balancing exceptional cuisine with impeccable service, creating an environment that feels both luxurious and welcoming.
If you have not yet dined at Hexagon, you simply have not lived. This was, without a doubt, the BEST experience we have ever had in terms of food, service, and overall dining. To business owners everywhere: take note. Hexagon has set the standard, and they have set it high.
