The carnitas are the star for good reason—rich, tender, and deeply seasoned, with that elusive melt-in-your-mouth texture that only comes from patience and knowing exactly what you’re doing. No dryness. No shortcuts. Just proper carnitas, done right.
From the moment you walk in, you can tell this operation is run with family pride. Friendly, welcoming, and genuinely grateful for your business.
We tried the carnitas tacos, asada torta, and a smothered asada burrito, and every plate delivered. The asada was juicy, the torta balanced and hearty, and the burrito was generously filled and unapologetically satisfying. Portions are substantial without feeling sloppy.
Everything tastes freshly made, thoughtfully prepared, and rooted in tradition rather than trend. You can tell the recipes matter here.
If you’re anywhere near Herriman and craving authentic, comforting Mexican food with real flavor and real portions, this place deserves a spot in your regular rotation. It’s not trying to be flashy—it’s just quietly excellent.
Highly recommended.
The staff was helpful and, cheerful. The restaurant was super clean.
I highly recommend it.
The Carnitas are the best that I have had anywhere and the portions are massive. My entire family has already asked to go back. We have a few events coming up and I am 100% taking advantage of having this incredible option so close to us!
When I walked in, I knew I made the right decision because the menu was focused and the building itself didn’t distract you with anything besides the aroma coming from the kitchen.
Juicy, savory, tender fall of the bone carnitas. Perfectly seasoned, cooked to perfection, melt in your mouth “tendernism”.
Fluffy rice, flagrant tortillas, savory beans, but the salsa takes the cake, it’s sweet, tangy, citrusy, with a hint of spice that contrasts perfectly with the meaty carnitas.
I honestly forgot what good carnitas tasted like before I came here. This type of quality is only achieved when the goal is to show people your roots and culture through food. When I tasted the food, I envisioned I was a kid in Michoacan waking up to the smell of fresh handmade tortillas and carnitas cooking before church service counting the minutes before Sunday dinner, which is crazy because I’m 100% Samoan and only been to TJ for tacos and Cancun for partying.
Shout out to the staff too, everyone who I interacted with was eager to show me their product which only happens when someone has pride in their work. It shows in the food, hands down best carnitas I’ve ever had.
The food has an authentic flavor; the carnitas are juicy and well-seasoned, and everything feels fresh and made with care. The service is friendly and makes you feel right at home. It’s the perfect place to come with family or friends.
I will definitely be back and highly recommend it 100%!
