I recently stopped by Herrera’s Mexican Restaurant #2 in Sealy, Texas, and had a really enjoyable experience. The restaurant has a warm, welcoming, family-style atmosphere — casual, comfortable, and full of authentic Tex-Mex charm. The staff were friendly and attentive, which made the visit even better.
I ordered a classic combination plate featuring a crispy beef taco, a cheese enchilada, and a beef enchilada, served with Mexican rice and refried beans. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and satisfying — the enchiladas were rich and comforting with plenty of sauce and melted cheese, while the taco was perfectly crisp with fresh toppings like shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and cheddar cheese. The guacamole was a delicious and creamy addition, and I was especially impressed by their house spicy sauce, which added a bold kick and brought all the flavors together beautifully.
While there’s still a little room for improvement — perhaps slightly bolder seasoning or a more vibrant presentation — the food quality, generous portions, and warm atmosphere make this a place I would definitely return to. If you’re in the Sealy area and craving authentic, no-frills Tex-Mex comfort food with a flavorful spicy sauce, Herrera’s Mexican Restaurant #2 is a great choice.

Went here to eat on a Saturday night. It was an hour before closing and when we came in I could tell they didn’t really want anyone there. We sat down ordered our drinks. 2 ice waters and 2 modellows dressed. When they brought the beer it had no salt at all. We had to send it back 2 times. When it came time for ordering food I only had the menu for maybe 5 minutes tops and the waiter came over and asked if we were ready. I could tell he was in a hurry but I hadn’t really even had the time to look at the menu so I asked for a few more minutes. The place only had 2 other tables at the time and when we were ready to order we both made sure to have our menu closed and on the corner of the table. It took a while before we saw the waiter again and when he did come out to the dinning area it felt like he was not looking our way on purpose. I try to be as open minded as possible so I gave him the benefit of the doubt figuring he was just busy trying to get everything closed. He then disappeared to the back again and within the next 15 minutes he came back to the dinning area 2 more times. Not once did he look our way north did he really look that busy. We were there for a little over 30 minutes and the only time we were asked anything about what we wanted was within the first 5 minutes. I felt that we were respectful to all of the staff. Even when I sent my drink back twice I tried to be as nice as I could. I always thanked the lady for her service. I asked for a dressed beer and the first time it came out it had 0 salt. When we got our beer the second time it had maybe 5-6 grans of salt. The beautiful lady I was with is Latino and speaks Spanish fairly well so it wasn’t a comincation issue. As soon as i walked in this place i felt like I wasn’t welcome. 30 minutes later we walked out very disappointed and hungry.

The service keeps this place high on a list of favorites. They are all very attentive to our needs. The food items are great, too, & a pretty awesome horchata is available! (My kids love the sweetness more than me, though.) Order the large white cheese as an appetizer or the table-side guacamole… both are always delicious!!

Great stop! We are heading to a place that we know from experience doesn’t make authentic Mexican food, so we wanted to get our fill before we left. We stopped off the 10 and it was easy to find and park at. Service was fantastic and this food completely hit the spot! Even our kids raved about it! Great little “hole in the wall” place! Kids will enjoy watching the piñata rise and fall when the door opens! Clean, friendly and fast service dinner time on a Saturday. Highly recommend! As we left, our host said “See ya manana, Amigo!” We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Herrera’s is a great local restaurant with an amazing staff! We happened upon it on our trip and are so glad. Their menu is extensive and includes not only most every Mexican dish, but also seafood. We were there on a busy Friday, but were seated and served quickly. There was live karaoke and a festive environment. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The only thing keeping them from 5 stars in my book was the food. It was hot and fresh and ok, but not excellent. I prefer more seasoning, a more spicy flavor. However, overall it was a great time out and we’ll return if in the area.

Mediocre Mexican food. Service was good enough and prices are reasonable. There’s plenty of much better Mexican places; I can’t really understand how this place has so many stars.
