The tasting facility is a forest green barn remastered as a first class modern facility with all of its old world feel. I tasted across the tasting menu from dry to sweet bubbly and it was all excellent. However, our tasting expert was even better than the rest of the experience. She was personable, welcoming, knowledgeable, and fun loving. She shared the history of Heron Hill Winery, highlighting the fact that Heron Hill remains a family operation after 53 years of perfecting there craft. The best part of all was that the our tasting expert actually said that her number one goal is that everyone she serves has a great experience, which means that she can and will adapt to ensure your next tasting is your best tasting experience of all time. Great Job Heron Hill!

Enjoyed the views of the vineyards and had a nice tasting with friends. Paul at the front did a great job welcoming us and sharing with us how it would work then Kelly was very helpful; and actually suggested my new favorite of the night. The “bar” area seating was quite limited- few people- It left very little room for conversation about the wines! We had a very fun time but felt lackluster and lacking of intimacy and maintenance in terms of the property- the staff were very warm and made a rainy night wine tasting enjoyable.

We’re members and love coming here. The wines are on the dryer side compared to other wineries, which we prefer. Friendly and helpful staff.

Just bought 2 bottles of Heron Hill Unoaked Chardonnay. What a sticker shock it was. 64.00 dollars for the 2 bottles. This wine was never this expensive when I worked there. No wonder the wine industry is having problems selling wine.
Very sad indeed. We will be getting our wine elsewhere going forward.

If you’re looking for a winery that blends exceptional wines with exceptional hospitality, look no further. From the moment my wife and I stepped in, we were made to feel welcome. For tastings, we were offered the choice between a wine and chocolate pairing or a choice of five wines. We opted for the latter. We enjoyed all that we tasted and decided on several to take home. But not before enjoying a couple more glasses and a meat and cheese board. We enjoyed our time there and look forward to returning in the summer to take advantage of their outdoor seating.

We visited yesterday during a light snow. The vineyard was beautiful blanketed in white. Our service was amazing and we chatted with our server for nearly an hour. She got to know my palate and was able to suggest a wine I absolutely loved. If you want well made, dry red wine in the finger lakes, check out Heron Hill.

1. The wine in the finger lakes is terrible, so I can’t fault them for the fact that I don’t like it. Some of the varieties I tried had either a sour tinge or even a rubbing alcohol smell. I’m not sure I’ve ever left a place without buying a case, but I didn’t even want a glass.
2. I picked this place because somewhere I read that the Canadaigua location has a lovely view of the lake. It doesn’t. It’s not their fault I misread or even believed something on the internet they didn’t put out, but it def added to the downward spiral.
3. The bar tender was lovely. She was knowledgeable and excited about the wine.
4. They have you sit down and just circle 5 off of a paper- not my preference for a pd tasting as it’s not directional.
5. The chairs/stools are wickedly uncomfortable. I was better off standing in heels.
6. Live music outside had a nice relaxed vibe people seemed to be enjoying.
7. They weren’t exactly generous with the pours (appropriate). I guess I do just kind of expect a little conversation. Most places would guide as they learn your tastes a bit. Here you get the five you circled and hope you chose well.
When an experience is kind of “blah” it’s hard to capture. All in all- the service was nice and I enjoyed the time with my family. I just don’t have any reason to want to go back.
