Awesome restaurant, newly reopened under new ownership. The food is delicious and they give large portions. The place is clean and welcoming, and the staff and new owners are wonderful.
The Cesar salad is hand made and absolutely wonderful. I’m not usually a fan of salads, but I ate this one so fast I almost forgot to take a photo. I asked for medium rare on my rosemary steak, and unlike many places, that’s how it came out. My husband loved the catfish filet and shrimp gumbo, and said their new grits were better than ever.
They have daily specials and are bringing out new things to try all the time! Check it out!

My husband and I visited Underground for the first time since reopening on Valentine’s Day. It was clearly a very busy night, so we understand that our experience may not reflect a typical evening there.
We waited about an hour just to receive our drinks. While we tried to be patient given the crowd, we noticed the same delays happening at several nearby tables, and actually saw multiple parties leave before being served.
When we ordered, quite a few items from the Valentine’s menu were already unavailable, which we also understood given the holiday. However, when our meals arrived, both steaks (ordered medium rare) were cooked incorrectly. We were each missing one of the two included sides, and we never received the spinach dip that was supposed to come with the meal.
After about 2.5 hours, dessert finally arrived and I will say, it was excellent. The bananas foster was absolutely incredible.
We may have chosen the toughest night to try it out, but for a $171 bill, we were hoping for a smoother experience. We do hope to return on a less hectic evening and give it another try.

Delicious! We stopped in for dinner on our Christmas travels. The food was fast and hot, rich in flavor, and in large portions! We ordered the special (Blackened Red Fish), Chicken crepes, a cheese and sausage app, and the Bananas Foster. So so delicious! The staff were friendly and high chairs made it easy to enjoy dinner with our 1 year old. Only thing that would have made our visit perfect is if there was a changing table in the bathroom. Thanks for a great dinner!

We went last night (2/5/26) after hearing about it from some folks and had dinner with my parents. We called because we weren’t quite sure what type of place it was and the chef took time to explain all of what they served and just really took time to explain a bunch of stuff to us which was fantastic, before we even got there the service was phenomenal. After getting there we were promptly greeted and told we could sit wherever. I ordered the burger with fries which was absolutely delicious. If I had more room in my stomach after that I would have probably ordered another. The wife ordered crab cakes which were huge and she said we’re amazing along with a side of red beans and rice, again, amazing. My mom ordered a burger as well and she doesn’t usually eat all of her food but this time she ate everything her stomach could handle, she said hers was amazing. My dad ordered the dirty rice and it was so good another was ordered. They were even accommodating to our 5 month old. Overall this was a fantastic experience and we will definitely be coming back. Our son heard about it and is excited to go and try their food and so is our daughter. We ordered some dirty rice for ourselves to go and our daughter tried a bite and did a little dance.

Went out to celebrate a friend’s 40th birthday and had a really good dinner. This place has always been one of Hernando’s favorites, so it’s nice to see it open again.
I ordered the salmon with mixed vegetables and it was cooked well and seasoned perfectly — didn’t need to add a thing. We finished with dessert for the birthday girl, which was a great way to end it.
You can tell the owners are putting care into what they’re doing, and it shows. Overall, a solid experience and a place I’ll definitely be back to. Glad to have this spot serving Hernando again.

From food to service to atmosphere, this was an awesome experience. We reserved their private room for a surprise engagement for friends, and the staff was so helpful. Everyone ordered something different, and everyone raved about it, even my picky children. We will definitely be back and will recommend them to anyone!

Highly recommend! We had the gumbo and a shrimp poboy. Both were fantastic (and I have high standards for both. The gumbo was rich and flavorful, and the shrimp on the poboy were enormous! The homemade remoulade was a nice bonus.

A hidden gem! We had lunch here based on reading reviews and it did not disappoint!! Hubby & I each had the smash burger lunch special with fries (so good!) and kettle chips for him. The onion bacon jelly and aioli on this burger was fantastic, but the burger patties themselves had an excellent flavor! Mom had the catfish special and loved it!! (Thick tender fish fillet cooked perfectly) Portions are big and satisfying. The belle of the ball was the bananas foster! (and I don’t like banana) This dessert is worth coming in even if you don’t eat anything else!
The only downside was the prices $15.99 each for the lunch specials and $11 each for dessert. (We didn’t eat dinner that night because we were still so full, so we justified the cost )

Definitely one of my favorite spots in town. Love the private feel of going downstairs and escaping into the more quiet atmosphere especially during a noisy town event. The food selection never disappoints, especially for the kids which I really appreciate, although I think the kids portions definitely need to be bigger. The adult portions certainly are very generous, enough so you will most likely have enough for another meal or to share with a partner if you so choose. My only complaint would be the bananas foster too warm, it melted within seconds and turned into banana soup. Still very tasty, but soup! Everything else great and I’ll definitely be back.

Cool place. Good customer service. Excellent gumbo with a rich, brown roux. Husband had Shrimp and crawfish etoufe, very good, lots of seafood. I had chicken crepes in a garlic mushroom sauce. Really excellent. Skip the rice pilaf served with it. Yuk. They allowed me to substitute a salad for the vegetable medley, so a bonus point there. Nice portions at reasonable price.
