Stopped in Herm’s last month on my way back to Arizona (for my Chicago dog fix). I think it was the best I’ve ever had! I was with my very pregnant daughter who is not usually a hot dog fan. We both loved our food and Craig (one of the owners) who spoiled my daughter with a side of pickle spears!
Fast Forward a month, and I’m back to meet my first grandbaby! My daughter and her husband had returned to Herm’s a few times, and it was where we went my first night here. It was also my granddaughter’s first outing! Everything was perfect and delicious!

Stopped by Herm’s Palace and had their Chicago-style dog—absolutely the best I’ve had. Perfect snap, fresh toppings, and exactly how it should be done. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the kind of place you instantly feel comfortable in. The owner is friendly and clearly cares about the place and the customers. A real neighborhood gem—definitely worth a visit.

I’m in town for one day as a former Chicagoian. I had to get a hotdog and cheese fries. My hotel is literally across the street from Portillos. But I didn’t want a chain. I wanted a local placeI decided to hop in an Uber and head over to Herms. So glad I did. It was amazing. The staff was so friendly. The food was so delicious and best of all they had Merk’s cheese fries. I would’ve loved to eat two hotdog dogs and two orders of fries, but I just couldn’t make them fit. I think I’m coming back for dinner.

If you are looking for the finest, friendliest, most welcoming restaurant with delicious food, you HAVE to stop by. From the moment I walked in the door the staff was friendly and helpful, the food looked and smelled delicious, and the atmosphere made me feel like this is where I belonged. This is exactly the place I was hoping to find while visiting the Chicago area. Now I’ll look forward to eating here every time I visit. It took them 3 seconds to get a customer for life. The guy taking my order practically read my mind and the food was out incredibly quick. 12 out of 10. HIGHLY recommended

Hands-down, the best spot in Skokie/Chicago for hot dogs, Burgers, beef there’s no competition. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid. This is your quintessential Chicago diner. They take your order fast, don’t write anything down (but always get it right), and are super friendly. They offer all the usual Chicago favorites: burgers, Vienna hot dogs, gyros, Italian beef, etc., and they do them well. TVs showing sports all around, autographed jerseys on the walls. Atmosphere takes you back in time in only the best ways. I only wish they kept their bathroom cleaner, but not enough to knock it down from five stars.
