What a gem in the north country of Michigan. When we Google restaurants in Cadillac it came up as a German restaurant. The food here is amazing. The morel soup is singularly phenomenal. Their home made saur kraut is about the best I’ve ever had and their bread with parmesian olive oil is a meal in itself. My wife had the halumi cheese salad and it was beyond delicious. I had the smoked pork loin with bratwurst and Spatzle and it was fantastic. An awesome dining experience, really.

I have always wanted to eat here. Chef Hermann took a photo with us. Food was delicious and presented well. Prices are high but not for the quality of food. I was stuffed. We are going back Easter Sunday. Staff was friendly and efficient.

So excited to write this review. We have traveled to many places, but have never had a REUBEN sandwich like this. IT was so flavourful that my husband and I couldn’t stop talking about it. The attached fries were hot and plentiful. The sandwich was generously layered with quality corned beef. The presentation of the food was generous and plentiful. Let me sum it up this way. We are here again today. Trying Two hearted 16 ounce , yes happy hour price $1.50 per glass……about 9 others on tap to try.

The food is delicious! They have great lunch specials whose prices can’t be beat for the quality you get.

Nice place. Friendly staff, good food, older decor but out had a comfy feel to it. Their food trends to lean to the heavy side but there are some good healthier options.

The star of the show in our parties opinion was the soup bar. All of the soups were amazing. They were hearty, flavorful, and obviously made from scratch. I will be getting that the next time we go there.

Food and service was good. Website is outdated and says $10 lunch special (for sandwich & soup), but our menu had $14 for sandwich only. Bathroom wasn’t very clean.

We took a day trip to MI.
In the spur of the moment we decided to stay overnight. We couldn’t find a room in the area we were at. So, we drove 2 hours for a room here.

This is not the typical hotel.
It is above storefronts.

To check in, you are given a code to enter. Then there are realtors keyboxes to retrieve your room key. (We reserved via phone.)

The room was very nice and was clean.
Upon entry, you see a desk area with a large closet. Coffee pot is on desk. (There was an ice bucket. But no way to get ice because the restaurant was closed for the night.)

The bathroom was huge.
In the bedroom area was the queen size bed, TV cabinet, large mini fridge and microwave, along with a sitting area with 2 wicker chairs.
I thought the hotel was quaint. Definitely not the typical hotel.

Now, for my not so good parts of the stay. And the reason, I gave only 4 stars.

This hotel is not handicap friendly. The parking is in the back.
I have a broken ankle and am using a knee scooter. The parking space was not level. And the parking lot was not very big.
To get in to the hotel, you have to cross over a “bridge”, with a sharp turn to the door.
If one was in a wheelchair, it would be frustrating. Especially if you have a large wheelchair or scooter.
(The door at the front of the building has stairs.)

The following is not the owners fault…
The other issue that should be noted, is even at 2am the street in front was noisy occasionally. If you are a light sleeper or not used to traffic noises, you might be frustrated.
Idk perhaps some thick drapes could help buffer the sounds???

I would like to see the owner make the hotel information separate from the restaurant.

Overall…we would definitely stay here again.

*I was tired and didn’t think of taking pictures when we first arrived.
