I’m sorry to give a negative review, I generally try my best not to. The employees we met were very kind. I would give them 5 stars.
But there was just nothing good about the buffet meal this evening. The entire buffet was shut down except for one little corner as you first walk in the door on the right, that would be only 1/5 of the buffet, if even that. And a good portion of that was the salad bar. Most of the food was cool, the turkey legs were very dry, Even the pumpkin pie was so dry it had a film on top. This was just not a good meal at all, certainly not worth the full price being charged.

Serious disappointment.. I know with the Covid craze that buffets are a thing of the past but this is even worse quality than the food they serve in the sandwich shop downstairs. My chicken fried “steak” was a pre made, frozen pattie (about 1/8″ thick) and the size of a hamburger without the bun.

It’s clear that this kitchen is poorly managed—stale croutons, wilted lettuce, hard-fried (and under-cooked) catfish, under-fried shrimp, burnt rolls, and the list goes on and on. Whoever runs this place should be embarrassed. I have never been to a more disgusting buffet. Overall the staff is pleasant, but the food is deplorable.

We arrived 7/4/25 at 5:15 pm. The cashier had just took the order and payment of two men directly in front of us and allowed them to go straight to a table. I stepped up to order and pay and she tells me she can’t let us in for 15 minutes….the place was nearly EMPTY. After I made the long walk back to a resting place, as soon as I sat down, she calls us back over and tells us to go on in. Then there was barely any food out there. It appeared to be “leftovers”. It was terrible, considering opening time was at 5pm. The food lacked flavor. Was supposed to be seafood for 29.99 each. My mother was looking forward to going here, we drove over and hour. We get there and mom was told crab legs were an additional 25.00!!! Crab legs was the reason she wanted to go here! The “seafood” consisted of very hard fried shrimp, frog legs, 3 pieces of fried fish and a bowl that had about 15 boiled shrimp. The veggies were very few. The smoked brisket was only juice in the pan. Some of the things on the salad bar were still wrapped in plastic the whole time we were there! My advice, don’t waste your time or money!! I wish I hadn’t taken my mom and let her waste her money like that!!!!!

Absolutely disgraceful for Ameristar to call this a buffet! Salad bar was anything but a bar. We asked for bacon bits, real or fake, to be told they don’t even have them for their bar. We were told it was going to be a seafood buffet. That consisted of boiled shrimp, fried fish & frog legs. That’s it. Ridiculous! Will NEVER visit them again!

ALL 3 of us got belly issues today because of food last night. We didn’t sleep and stayed in bathrooms. It was LOW quality food with very few choices. I haven’t been in years so oh have the mighty have fallen. It was terrible. The whole casino was dirty. Stairs, floors everything dirty.
