Here Hai, the original shop on Ekkamai Road, is a well-known eatery famous for its huge crab dishes and bold Thai flavors. The interior is simple and casual, spread across two floors of seating, but the food is what draws the crowds.

Every time I walk around this area, there’s a line of people waiting outside, so a bit of planning or a sprinkle of luck definitely helps. I arrived early on a Sunday and the place was already nearly full—luckily no queue.

The kitchen focuses on fresh seafood sourced from southern Thailand, cooked using traditional Thai wok techniques that give the dishes that great smoky “wok hei” aroma. The menu features several signatures, including crab fried rice loaded with large chunks of real crab meat, the famous crab omelette, and other seafood dishes like mantis shrimp, prawns, and stir-fried vegetables.

I went for the Stir-Fried Mantis Shrimp with Holy Basil, served with rice. The mantis shrimp worked nicely with the fragrant basil and a good level of spiciness. I also tried the stir-fried cabbage with fish sauce and spicy pork crackling—definitely fiery, but balanced well with rice and a cold soda.

Prices might be slightly on the higher side compared to some local spots, but considering the portion size and quality, it’s well worth it. Clean place, lively atmosphere.

There’s also another Here Hai branch in Siam Paragon, but visiting the original shop in Ekkamai definitely has its charm. I’ll be back to try the crab omelette or crab fried rice next time.

If you want bold Thai seafood done right, Here Hai – Original Branch in Bangkok is a must.

I went in with high expectations and they still overdelivered.

Crab Fried Rice
• Massive chunks of sweet crab meat.
• Fragrant wok hei.
• Generous portion.
• You actually see and taste the crab in every bite.

This is not one of those places that skimps on seafood. They load it properly.

Seafood Quality
• Fresh.
• Clean flavours.
• No fishy aftertaste.
• Perfectly cooked prawns and crab.

The stir-fried crab dishes are rich, balanced, and deeply satisfying. You can tell they focus on execution, not gimmicks.

Atmosphere
• Casual.
• Busy.
• Energetic local vibe.

It feels authentic. Not polished for tourists. Just solid Thai cooking that locals line up for.

Service
• Efficient.
• Straightforward.
• Food comes out fast despite the crowd.

If you are in Bangkok and love seafood, this place deserves a spot on your list. It is the kind of restaurant you leave already planning your next visit.

Was around the vicinity for massage and decided to pop up 10 mins before the afternoon opening hours. We were about 10th in the queue on a normal weekday. Food must be damn good to command such an early crowd.

We had their signature lump crab meat fried rice, garlic mantis shrimp and fish ball. Oh mine, their signature crab meat fried rice is to die for, the amount of wok hei makes it so legit and yummylicious. Each mouthful is craving for the next. Definitely Michelin worthy.

The garlic mantis shrimp came deshelled which is a plus and the fishball is just a normal passable fishball dish.

Dining place is a bit of a squeeze but overall a great dining experience!

Easily my Top 3 Bangkok Eats we ordered the mantis shrimp, the crab omelette as well as the crab fried rice and can say that this place is definitely worth the wait! We waited a total of 30 minutes and it was close to closing time before their lunch break. We were still let in half an hour before they closed but they didn’t kick people out. They just didn’t let new people come in.

We had a great experience at Here Hai. We waited for only around 10 minutes, which was very reasonable considering how popular the place is.

Everything we ordered was excellent. The crab fried rice was fragrant and perfectly cooked, the crab omelette was rich and satisfying, and the prawn with garlic and pepper was packed with flavor without being overwhelming. Even the fresh orange juice was a refreshing complement to the meal.

Overall, the food lived up to the hype. Just simple, well-executed dishes with quality ingredients. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Bangkok.

We waited in line for almost 40 minutes, but it was worth it. The menu looks great with a limited selection, plus they offer some special dishes.
The green sauce was spicy and sour, and the crab fried rice had a nice smoky flavor, a perfect match. The dressing was acceptable, but the overall taste was next level.
Highly recommend the crab fried rice.

For me , the Queue was about 20 mins. In here, even the place was crowded but the staff’s were not rude unlike most of places in bkk. The food taste was delicious but tbh, not a place tht i will crave to have again. I pay 1.310 THB for this 3 menu’s + 1 coco water. I pay with my indonesian QR code bank. For the muslim people, Fyi, After taking my order, the staff ask me “ekiumi, u can eat pork?”

Now that I’ve been to the 3 most famous crab fried rice/omelette known to tourists in Bangkok: Raan Jay Fai (twice), Nhong Rim Klong (once) and today to Here Hai (original location), based on queuing time, food quality and price, I think Here Hai is the clear winner for me.

Visited on 17 Feb 2026, arrived at 10:40am, seated at 11:40 and finished our meal by 12:20pm. Meal for 4 cost us 1680 Baht, we had crab fried rice (portion for 2, with more crab meat), crab omelette, river prawn with rice, veggie and 3 orange juices.

Omelette could have used more eggs and more fluffy, other than that, all dishes were good.

Service staff very busy yet attentive!
Kudos!!

The hype is real! This place definitely deserves its Michelin Guide recommendation (2024-2026). The food was absolutely delicious.
We ordered the Crab Fried Rice, and it was hands down the best. The rice had a perfect texture with amazing wok hei (breath of the wok) aroma. The best part is the insane amount of fresh crab meat mixed in—no effort needed to peel anything, just pure enjoyment! We also had the Creamy Omelet with Crab, which was loaded with huge chunks of crab.
Tips:
Arrive early: The place is very crowded, and the queue starts even before they open.
Parking: It is quite hard to find parking for cars, so plan accordingly.
Must-try drink: Don’t forget to order their Orange Juice, it is incredibly fresh and pairs perfectly with the meal.
Highly recommended for seafood lovers in Bangkok!

As soon as our flight touched down Suvarnabhumi Airport, the first thing that we did was to book an airport limousine to send us directly to Here Hai, listed in Michelin Guide for 5 years straight. Lunging our luggage along, we were made to queue in the line like everyone else. Normally I didn’t like waiting but since we were already there and I wanted to make my first meal a good one, be patient lah!

After about half an hour, we finally got our table and proceed to order. Here Hai prides themselves for serving fresh seafood from Surat Thani and not frozen varieties to keep the quality.

◾Stir fried mantis shrimp with garlic – the hunger motivated me to strip the shell off and devour the sweet flesh.
◾Signature crab omelette – love the still runny egg texture akin to a good scrambled egg, and then topped with generous chunks of crab meat.
◾Insane Crab Fried Rice – they are not kidding when added ‘insane’ in the description. The fried rice was insanely generous with both crab meat and wok hei.
◾Grilled giant river prawn – ordered one whole prawn and shared between two pairs. Loved the creaminess of the golden roe and nicely grilled meat.

DO not for get to utilize their Nam Jim Seafood sauce which they make fresh everyday. It’s tangy and spicy yet went so well with everything on the table. We left the place with heavy tummy and luggages.
