Herbs bakery is amazing! I came in the morning of my order for a work party but there was something wrong with the cookies so they remade the order and delivered it all the way to Dekalb! Definitely would recommend Herbs to everyone! The cookies were amazing too

look at this cake!!!! They thru this cake together… the colors didn’t match. The picture was super small and they told me one price over the phone and then when I got there they tried to charge me more … the skinny Spanish lady is extremely rude and they wouldn’t give me the cake for the price they told me

new owners ruined an amazing business. we’ve been getting cakes and cookies for years and ever since the new owners took over, nothings the same. it’s a shame they don’t seem to care about a business that has been around for 70 years. cookies are always stale and red velvet cake is stale and basically chocolate cake. so disappointed and will have to find a new bakery. do better!!

This place is phenomenal. I called on a Friday asking for a cake to be ready by Sunday. They said that they were busy but that they could get it done. They did not disappoint. They were able to accommodate my late request. I ordered a black Forrest cherry cake and let me just say, Jewel cake cannot compare. It was one of the best cakes I’ve ever had! Herbs makes the best cake hands down. The customer service is awesome. I really appreciate everyone there for being able to accommodate my request. Here are pics of the beautiful cake we got.

Been gettitg there thumb print cookies for year’s and have always been my favorite and go to for birthday parties and baby showers. I’m in the hospital recovering from emergency surgery. My sweet daughter decided to stop and get me some for valentines day. I ate 3 can’t eat no more. They don’t look burnt but have a burnt taste. Guess I thought the new owners got all recipes from old owners. What a disappointment will have to find someplace else for my cakes and cookies. Herbs has been a staple for elgin for many year’s dont see it lasting much longer. Very sad

Partially my fault to expect something similar to what was being shown in the add picture and I did try canceling the order seconds after placing it but I was not allowed to do so. This was a too good to go order and pic illustrating the the add and what I got from them. I love artesian bread and will definitely NOT eat what I got. I ended up returning it and didn’t make a scene or anything I just refused to take it.

I heard that there were new owners and wanted to give them a try. At first, I pre-ordered a cake for my husband’s deployment/farewell ceremony because they were able to put edible photos on the cake. Right after the order, I bought empanadas to eat at home because they looked so soft and delicious. However, when I ate them at home, they were stale. I have heard that the new owners worked for the previous owners, so they must know how to bake well and just need time adjusting to business. I went back to give them another try and purchased the same empanadas. They were much better and fresh. I told them about my previous bad experience so that they were aware of it, moving forward. I, too, moved forward with them in baking my cake. It was a small carrot cake in the middle and vanilla & chocolate cupcakes surrounding it, and photos on top with Army green coloring for the frosting. In the end, the cake turned out fantastically designed, and DELICIOUS! Photo of the cake posted (blurred some parts). I received many compliments on the cake, especially the taste of the carrot cake. I gave 4 stars because of the first bad experience.

**** Avoid this bakery! The bottom cake layer was covered in mold ***** I’m pregnant and I have had a craving for a vanilla cake with butter cream frosting for well over a week. I finally gave in and we found Herbs bakery on Google about 20 mins away. We called to see if they have any pre-made cakes and he told us they did. We got there and he pointed to the ones that were supposed to be vanilla. When we got it home, it was red velvet, which I was perfectly cool with, bc the butter cream (which what I’m craving) was vanilla. Well, when we cut into it, the bottom of thr cake was covered in mold. I didn’t notice it at first until my husband stopped me and pointed out. Sure enough we smelled it, and it’s definitely mold with a very pungent smell. We were both a little horrified. It literally smells like a wet, damp basement. Who know what would have happened if I ate this, being 6 months pregnant. Please beware of buy anything from this bakery. I have never had this experience before. The place looked pretty clean, inside and out. I’m just so shocked they’re selling this. I wish I read the reviews before going. Apparently a few others have had the same experience.
