HERBIE’S is an American restaurant and bar inspired by the food and atmosphere of the French bistro as well as the cuisines of Italy, Asia, and the coastal American South. You’ll find a range of food & drink here — all delicious and all served in an atmosphere of relaxed elegance. Our goal is for you to find a place of warm welcome with us, time after time; a second home for you and your guests.
French-inspired American dishes, plus a large wine list, served in a stylish, old-school setting.

This is a great place to eat on a special occasion and of course it’s a little expensive, but it was worth it! The food was really good. We had 2 appetizers, roasted brussel sprouts, and bone marrow with pepper relish. Both were very good. Three of us had the special, beef wellington, which I thought was exceptional. The other person in our party had duck risotto, which he said was exceptional as well. The cocktails were a little pricey but that was expected. The inside temperature of the restaurant is my only knock to the rating. Granted it was exceptionally Cold Outside they probably should have brought some floor heaters in to blow across the floor because it was uncomfortably cold on our feet.

Pancakes were very dry without flavor. House potatoes cooked fine but rarely any peppers and onions. Veggie scramble was okay. Service was okay server was not really attentive. We had to keep asking for water and coffee to be refilled and condiments. Someone at the table ordered banana pancakes it came with 3 very thin sliced bananas on top that’s it. Ordered a cup of fruit came very very small portion size. That had to be 1 strawberry sliced and a piece of a pineapple. Would recommend the chicken and waffles those were a 7/10

Herbie’s is one of the best restaurants in Clayton! It’s perfect for any occasion – date night, work meal, happy hour.
The menu is filled with delicious staples, like Truffle Fries and Brussels Sprouts, and seasonal items, like Coq Au Vin! Be sure to save room for their bread pudding!!

The food, service, and atmosphere is perfect. Eating outside near the fire made for a most memorable, ideal night. Our waiter was very nice, personable, and made sure we were well taken care of.
Admittedly, the menu is pricier than other restaurants in the area, but it’s worth it. The portions are quite large though – each entree makes at least two meals. Even the aroma of the food is mouth watering. If you haven’t eaten here before, give this restaurant a chance!

The service was amazing. The food was mediocre at best. We came for brunch. My eggs Benedict was not so good. There was only maybe 2 teaspoons of hollandaise sauce. The eggs were cooked perfectly. There was one thin slice of overcooked ham paired with a very thick. This made for a very dry benedict.
The potatoes were very crisp as I asked, but they were bland. It took a crazy amount of salt to correct the bland flavor.
The salad served with this combination was very sweet. I think it would be better with a crisp acidic vinaigrette. Overall it was just meh.
The grits had amazing texture, but needed salt. Lots of salt and pepper and butter. They were billed on the menu as White Cheddar? Grits. They were strangely orange and there was only a faint cheese essence.
However the coffee and the bacon were incredible. I think there may be better things to order here.

We had a group of 10 ladies from high school celebrating our annual gift exchange. The restaurant was totally decorated. The ambiance was perfect for our group. They were very accommodating to our 1 late arrival. The wait staff helped us with pictures and videos. We were still there at closing time and they didn’t rush us out. Thanks Herbies for an enjoyable evening for our group.

Herbie’s went above and beyond to make sure my birthday brunch was perfect! From securing my reservation via email with Daniel which was seamless. Our server, Derrick was amazing. He was so attentive, personable, and great at his job! I will definitely ask for him for my next visit!

Posting after my husband who explained our time here well. My personal complaints, (coming from someone who has worked in the restaurant industry) I asked for a mojito and was told they were out of mint, no big deal I’ll order an amaretto sour. My drink was 80% lemon juice and really didn’t taste amaretto at all. I then ordered a Saronno which tasted like straight shot of bourbon with egg white on top. When it came to ordering a lot of us ordered the French dip. Which when your prices are either $19 for a burger or French dip then $36 for a linguine with chicken with nothing in between, you’re going to have multiple orders of one item. Almost half of our group of 21 ordered the French dip and then were told after placing orders they were out of the French dip. This was a fail on the establishment when placing ingredient orders knowing in advance of a large reservation. I asked to substitute the condiments on the burger for horseradish mayo and caramelized onions to mimic the French dip to which I was told without hesitation “no the kitchen will not do that” yet it was less condiments that came on the original burger. To not even ask for substitutions is an error on the waitstaff who clearly was overwhelmed. No idea why you would not provide at least who waitstaff members for a large group. Describing the burger is as easy as saying McDonalds Burgers have more flavor than what was provided at Herbie’s.
Most disappointing part of the night was the extra charge for the cake I brought. I know restaurants tend to charge for food brought in which is typically a charge of $10-$20. I bake for a hobby so I had no issue telling my brother in law to save some money and I’ll provide the dessert. When it came to cake time we were told we could not have a knife to cut but yet they would provide plates and extra forks, make that make sense please. Instead of a flat charge for bringing the cake they charged for 21 cake cutting fees. So each member of the party was charged a cake cutting fee that they didn’t provide service for other than a stack of plates that was dished and served by members in the party.
I will not go back to this restaurant. Bland food for the price, lack of options, terrible service, shortage of ingredients, and inconsistent bar service.

Two stars because the host was able to seat us without a reservation and the server was very nice, knowledge and attentive. But the food was lacking. I don’t mind paying for a good meal. But I would have rather handed my server $44 than pay that for a 4oz duck breast with no sear on a bed of undercooked arborio rice (duck risotto). The ahi was overcooked on the spinach salad. The brussel sprouts were very good.
I wasn’t going to leave a review, but the more I thought about that risotto, the more upset I got. Do the cooks not have tasting spoons? Super disappointing experience.

Came for drinks, our bartenders were super friendly and attentive! We were surprised at how big the food portions are. Loved the Brussels sprouts, and she made my White Russian just right! Will come back to try the brunch!
